Top 5 Videos: 3D Printed Salmon on the Menu With Revo Foods

Published on November 5, 2023 by Michael M.

Welcome to another week’s top five videos where we showcase the most exciting and recent 3D printing content on the web. From the emerging 3D printed food market, Revo Foods takes us into the future of sustainable seafood with their innovative 3D-printed fish alternatives, to discovering strategies to reduce filament waste during multi-material 3D printing. We join popular inventor Unnecessary Inventions as he sets up a life-sized 3D printed version of himself before witnessing the incredible four-year journey that went into 3D printing a full-sized Lamborghini Aventador. We cap things off with our very own 3D Explained series, where we delve into common FDM 3D printing issues and their solutions. Get ready to explore the world of 3D printing with these captivating videos!

Top 1: Exploring 3D Printed Meals with Revo Foods

In our first video, the 3Dnatives team interviews Robin Simsa, CEO and co-founder of Austrian startup Revo Foods. The company is on a journey to combat overfishing through innovative 3D printing technology. Learn how this company creates fish alternatives from plant ingredients, with a specific focus on salmon fillets that replicate the texture complexities and flavor profiles of real fish. This video provides a glimpse into the future of 3D-printed food, which promises exciting culinary possibilities for customers. Watch the video to learn more about this game-changing approach to sustainable seafood production!

Top 2: How to Reduce Filament Waste During Printing

In our second video, we explore Bambu Lab printers’ efficient methods for multi-material printing. While these printers excel in this respect, they tend to produce some filament waste during the changeover process. Teaching Tech delves into strategies to minimize this waste and improve printing efficiency. The video also covers different methods to reduce filament wastage and print time, including adjusting flushing volumes, global multipliers, and printing multiple models simultaneously. If you’re looking to optimize your multi-material 3D printing experience and reduce waste, this video provides valuable insights and practical solutions!

Top 3: Unnecessary Inventions Makes A Doppelganger

In this video by the solution-savvy Unnecessary Inventions, we join him in the studio as he unboxes and sets up the K1 Max 3D printer from Creality. It features a massive 300x300x300 mm build plate, making it ideal for a very special project: to create a life-sized 3D printed version of himself. The project involved scaling up a 3D model, printing each part individually, and assembling them together with glue. But this 3D replicated man isn’t just for show! A sensor detects movement and plays a welcome message every time someone enters the studio’s lobby, ready to welcome guests. Check out the entire journey and result down below!

Top 4: A Full-Size 3D Printed Lamborghini Replica

In this inspiring project, a man by the name of Sterling Backus, who has degrees in physics and engineering, 3D printed a full-sized Lamborghini Aventador-inspired supercar in his backyard. The endeavor was driven by his 11-year-old son’s fascination with the Lamborghini Aventador in car racing games. Over the course of four years, Sterling meticulously crafted this impressive vehicle. He sourced parts from junkyards, installed a V8 engine, and 3D printed more than 1,000 pieces for the car body, which took about 6,000 hours in total. The final result, while not perfect, showcases his passion and dedication. Sterling has also used the car for educational purposes and to inspire children in STEM fields. For a look at the process and the final result, look no further!

Top 5: Troubleshooting FDM Issues with 3Dnatives!

In this episode of our very own 3D Explained series, Elliot delves into common FDM 3D printing issues and their solutions. With situations ranging from Bed adhesion problems, thermal expansion, and stringing, learn about some prudent measures to ensure proper filament storage and optimize settings. Also tackling problems like ghosting and ringing artifacts on prints, blobs and zits onlayer seams, over-extrusion and under-extrusion issues and dreaded nozzle clogs, this episode provides helpful tips and emphasizes that every challenge in 3D printing is an opportunity to learn and improve in this ever-evolving field. So don’t give up, and keep printing!
