Yeggi, The Search Engine to Find 3D Files
In 3D printing, it all starts with a 3D file sent to the 3D printer. Creating such a file can be difficult for a user who has no experience in modeling. That’s why they can go through platforms and marketplaces to download STL files directly compatible with their machine. There are many of them today and you may find it’s sometimes complicated to find your way around. Yeggi makes this job easier: it is a search engine that allows you to find the desired 3D model among all those available online.
Created in April 2013 by Sebastien Karpp, Yeggi now gathers more than 6.13 million 3D models, a number that has been growing steadily since the site went live. Around 80 percent of these files can be downloaded for free. The idea is simple: you type your search in the search bar and the site presents dozens of results. The user can then choose the 3D model that suits them, which will send them directly to the platform to download the model: Cults3D, Thingiverse, MyMiniFactory, etc. It’s like Google for 3D printing.
Yeggi, A Solution that Simplifies the Search for 3D Models
Yeggi offers advanced search criteria. A user can filter by free or paid models, and sort by “best match” or “latest” models. This makes the experience more fluid, allowing anyone to get an easy start to the 3D printing process. You can find everything on Yeggi, from small motorcycles to extruder protection and various figurines. However, the search engine has room for improvement. There are only a few search criteria. Why not have object categories or files sorted by printing difficulty? The site could offer more options to differentiate itself from other search engines such as STLfinder.
Creating a free account brings a little extra to Yeggi: once an account is activated, the user can create a list of 3D models and follow specific keywords to be informed each time a new 3D file is published on a platform. The site also relays many articles on 3D printing news around the world, showing a willingness to bring content to its users. Everything is brought together on a single site, facilitating the user experience. Take a look at this search engine HERE and find your favorite 3D file!
