This week’s Top 5 Videos include videos ranging from 3D printed fashion designs to 3D printing in education, and more. This shows how versatile 3D printing is and how many industries it can benefit. Remember, a new Top 5 Videos is posted every Sunday, so don’t forget to check out next week’s ranking too!

1 – Carbon 3D and Incase

Carbon 3D are a frequently talked about company in the 3D printing industry, partly due to their famous TED Talk about 3D printing 100x faster. They manufacture 3D printers that use a similar technique to SLA called CLIP. This video highlights their partnership with Incase to produce super-strong cases to protect your electronic devices.

2 – 3D Printing in schools

This next video showcases a real-world application of 3D printing. In schools across the US, 3D printers are being introduced to teach students valuable tech skills. These skills include CAD and 3D design, manufacturing, and a variety of other useful IT skills. As a growing sector, it is invaluable for young people to get experience with 3D printing.

3 – 3D Printing Fashion

This video shows the journey of a young university student who discovered 3D printing whilst drawing up concepts for her fashion designs. With 3D printing, she could create far more customised pieces for her clothes than with any other manufacturing technique. These 3D printed fashion designs include dresses and bags.

4 – Metal Additive Manufacturing

This video by 3D Systems with 3rd dimension tells the story of how designers struggle to figure out how their designs will be realised with traditional manufacturing techniques. However, with 3D printing these parts which have awkward geometries can be created, even in metal. This led to the production of a metal 3D printed tap and related parts.

5 – Fraunhofer Additive Manufacturing Alliance

The Fraunhofer Additive Manufacturing Alliance represents the entire 3D printing process. This video shows the huge variety of tasks that 3D printing can accomplish, including rapid prototyping, bioprinting, and much more. The video also shows the range of materials that can be 3D printed, from plastics to metals to living cells.
