3D printed pasta from Barilla for Valentine's Day

Love is not just in the air, now it is now coming to your plate! The Barilla brand BluRhapsody has launched two new 3D printed pasta formats on the market just in time for Valentine’s Day. CUPID and LOVE ME TENDER are designed to celebrate individual love stories with romantic pasta shapes, because as we all know, the way to a person’s heart is through the stomach. The new creations are suitable for use both as an appetizer and as a dessert, adding an original, themed touch to the feast.

We have previously told you about BluRhapsody. The company has set itself the goal of “Reinventing the Art of Making Pasta”. Originally, the idea of 3D printing pasta came about through the SMART PASTA – 3D Shapes with a Purpose competition, during which a 3D food printer and the first pasta creations were presented.

VORTIPA and CUPID are just two examples from BluRhapsody’s range of themed pasta.

After several years of creative work, the 3D-printed pasta shapes have been available in the BluRhapsody online store since 2022 and the company never tires of coming up with innovative new creations. The range includes the right pasta for almost every occasion, from cauldrons and pumpkins for Halloween to Christmas trees and shooting stars for Christmas. Even 3D printed spaghetti is on the menu!

Declare Your Love in 3D Printed Pasta Form for Valentine’s Day

This February, BluRhapsody has given us a special gift for Valentine’s Day, bringing amore (love in Italian) to the table with its latest creations. Both new additions to the range can be prepared as sweet or savory finger food. The heart-shaped CUPID pasta is printed using durum wheat semolina and is available in a pack of twelve for €15.90. Each pasta weighs exactly 48 ounces and measures 3.5 x 1 cm – the ideal starting point for the perfect dinner.

The second creation ensures that the Valentine’s Day meal is not just a feast for the palate, but is also visually appealing. 3D LOVE ME TENDER is a pink pasta duo consisting of a heart and love lettering. The color of the symbolic love pasta is provided by a radish and carrot concentrate, which is added to the durum wheat semolina base before the hearts and the declaration of love are extruded as pasta from the 3D printer. Even with these shapes, each pasta is identical to the next, as the use of additive manufacturing guarantees exactly the same dimensions and weight. The pack, consisting of six hearts and six times love, can be purchased for €15.90.

BluRhapsody recommends preparing one of the pasta shapes as an appetizer or starter and the second shape as a dessert to create an appealing themed menu. For recipe suggestions, BluRhapsody recently collaborated with top Italian chefs and shared their preparation inspirations on its Instagram channel. The hearts are filled with sea bass tartare, passion fruit and argula, while for dessert, the love lettering is filled with dark chocolate and raspberries. After all, it is well known that we eat first with our eyes, so why not make sure your meal is as visually appetizing as possible?

LOVE ME TENDER is a special creation for Valentine’s Day.

To complete your perfect Valentine’s Day meal, maybe you could also add 3D-printed salmon, eel, seafood, steak or even desserts and chocolate from the printer. From appetizer to dessert, one thing is sure, 3D-printed food is the new, must-have addition to any plate. You can find out more about BluRhapsody and the original pasta creations HERE.
