3D printed shoes have already caught the attention of major brands and startups alike. The growing popularity and creative freedom of 3D printed footwear has allowed us to see a number of projects ranging everything from the traditional boot into plant-seeding sneakers, or the use of more recyclable materials and artistic expression on the runways of Paris Fashion Week. One of the latest entries is the ASICS ACTIBREEZE™ HYBRID SANDAL. Launched on August 1st, the ACTIBREEZE™ HYBRID SANDAL is the latest in a line of 3D printed footwear produced in cooperation between sportswear giant ASICS and California-based 3D printing company LuxCreo. The duo have previously collaborated together notably on their 3D printed flip-flops and the previous iteration of the fully 3D-printed ACTIBREEZE™ 3D SANDAL.

Indeed, LuxCreo has made a name for itself as a leading end-to-end 3D printing solution provider over the years, setting itself apart with its focus on the use of AI-enabled software and advanced designs. In this case, the partners also used LuxCreo’s Smart Factory Production service to produce the ACTIBREEZE™ HYBRID SANDAL. “Our collaboration with ASICS is a testament to the forward-thinking ethos that drives our companies. By bringing a consumer hybrid 3D printed footwear product to market, we are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and forging a partnership that thrives on innovation and excellence,” explained Michael Strohecker, Co-Founder and Chief Revenue Officer of LuxCreo. “Together, we are pushing possibilities in footwear.

Improved Recovery Between Sports Sessions With the ASICS 3D Printed Sandals

The new ACTIBREEZE™ HYBRID SANDALS are made using an elastomer material and feature a 3D printed footbed. LuxCreo elastomer is characterized by a very high elasticity, while meeting the AFIRM RSL standard. These features are noticeable in the insole, which was printed in a lattice structure, providing greater comfort and breathability. The design of the sandal has been modified to provide additional benefits to the wearer compared to the previous model. Moreover, one new addition is a central strap to keep the insole in place, provide greater foot support and improve recovery before your next sports session.

The sandal is designed for all sports enthusiasts who want to improve their performance. According to the press release, every new product design at ASICS is based on data from tests, user experiences and studies. For over 30 years, the ASICS Institute of Sport Science has scanned and documented the feet of more than 1 million people and incorporated more than 100,000 biomechanical tests into the design of ACTIBREEZE™ HYBRID SANDALS.

Chris Ekman, Senior Manager of Global Product Line Footwear elaborated on the importance of the intensive testing phases for product design: “At ASICS, we know that if our aim is to help everyone achieve a sound mind in a sound body, our products must go beyond being trusted partners for the runs and races themselves. We are also committed to exploring the moments of before performance and after performance too, as these phases are crucial to perform at your peak when it matters and protect against injury. That’s why we are so excited to be launching the ACTIBREEZE™ HYBRID SANDAL today, delivering plush comfort and relaxation when runners need it most in those all-important periods of rest and recovery.”

An optimized recovery time has a positive influence on the preparation for the next competition, the next run or the next workout, which in the long run leads to increased performance, improved fitness and better well-being. ASICS thus remains true to its motto, which is also enshrined in the acronym of the brand name. ASICS stands for Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, which in Latin means “A healthy mind resides in a healthy body.” Find out more about ACTIBREEZE™ 3D SANDAL HERE.
