Type A Machines

Type A Machines was founded in San Francisco by Chief Technology Officer Andrew Rutter in January 2012, when his wife requested he move his 3D printer off of their dining room table. To accommodate the daily trek to Noisebridge, he modified his printer and developed a telescopic design that could more easily fit in the trunk of his compact car without sacrificing build volume. His knack for improving technology and design for practicality and ease of use quickly caught the eye of other makers, and Type A Machines was born.

Type A Machines is a technology leader in 3D printing, delivering the best printer possible with an unmatched return on investment. By engaging with and learning from the 3D printing community, we encourage independent modification, develop technologies that benefit our users, and set new industry standards.

Type A Machines has won several industry awards, including Editor’s Choice in PC Mag and Best in Class by Make: Magazine. As the company grows, we remain committed to delivering an exceptional product, engaging the community, and pioneering new technologies.
