The Ultimaker S3 3D printer was unveiled at the TCT show, in September 2019 and represents the new version of the Ultimaker 3. This new model still includes the Print Cores system that first appeared on the Ultimaker 3, allowing multi-material or multi-color printing and incorporates the same 4.7-inch full-color touch screen as the Ultimaker S5 3D printer.
What are the features of the Ultimaker S3?
The S3 offers a slightly smaller printing volume than the S5 model, 230 x 190 x 200 mm and allows printing in a wide range of materials thanks to its heated plate capable of reaching up to 140°C.
Other features on the Ultimaker S3 3D printer include a reinforced steel feeder system for new abrasive materials, a Z-shaped stability reinforcement, a dual filament flow sensor, an even more accurate build plate sensing system, improved motors that are quieter (only 50 dB) and more reliable for greater accuracy (6.9 microns on the X and Y axes and 2.5 microns on the Z axis). Also, the S3 is equipped with a magnetic front door while the power supply unit is now integrated into the printer for a smaller footprint.
An ultra-connected machine
The Ultimaker S3 is also connected machine, it comes with WiFi connection of course and also with its ERPROM chip to facilitate the detection of the type of Print Cores installed. Also, it comes with NFC chips that equip the brand’s filament reels to automatically identify the materials and associated printing parameters. Finally, the integrated camera will allow the quality of the prints to be monitored live.
