Top 5 Videos: The opportunities of ceramic 3D printing

This week we found the top 5 videos about 3D printing and the way additive manufacturing is changing production. The technology has infiltrated many sectors, from medical to automotive – check our selection of the week to keep up with the innovations! If you enjoy these, you can view even more 3D printing videos on our Youtube channel. Hope you’ll enjoy and have a great Sunday!

Top 1: The opportunities of ceramic 3D printing

In recent years, 3D printing technologies have adapted to technical ceramics that offer high-performance properties. Therefore, many sectors can now benefit from these new capabilities and are investing in this technology for aerospace, medical and automotive components. The ceramic 3D printing market is growing and is predicted to reach $3.6 billion in 2028! Is ceramic 3D printing the next revolution in the AM sector?

Top 2: Ford Motor 3D printing with BigRep

Recently, the giant of the automotive industry Ford has invested in large format additive solutions developed by BigRep. With over 30 years of experience in the additive manufacturing sector, Ford decided to expand the prototyping facilities. The result? They were able to reduce delivery time by 94% thanks to this technology. Following this success, the company expanded its use of the BigRep ONE machine, as it needed more manufacturing capacity. That’s when it invested in a BigRep PRO. See all the details in the video below.

Top 3: COBOD and Kamp C 3D print a two-storey house in Belgium in one piece

Recently, we have covered a story about a two-storey house built in Belgium, and now the video about the project is out. Kamp C company used the concrete 3D printer BOD2, developed by COBOD, and thus was able to construct a 90 square meter structure in only three weeks, and in one single block! The project is actually a model house – for the moment, there are no plans to inhabit it as its purpose is to demonstrate the full potential of additive manufacturing in the construction industry.

Top 4: Inside LEVHOSS’ 3D printing lab

The Lehvoss Group has been marketing chemicals and minerals  to industrial customers for more than 125 years. Founded in Hamburg in 1894, the company now has subsidiaries in some of the most important European markets. The Lehvoss Group has a dedicated 3D printing laboratory in Wandsbek. In this laboratory they have several 3D printers based on Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technologies. Lehvoss does not manufacture the machines itself, but develops materials for them. Watch the video to see what is inside their 3D printing lab.

Top 5: More about 3D printed houses!

Mighty Buildings is an Oakland-based company dedicated to building affordable and sustainable homes through robotics and automation. Its printing technology is based on a thermosetting compound called Light Stone Material (LSM) that hardens when exposed to ultraviolet light. In addition, the company’s main competitive advantage lies in the delivery and installation of the structure wherever the client decides – a revolution in the construction sector!
