Top 5 Videos Of The Week: additive manufacturing for aerospace…

This week we found the top 5 videos about 3D printing and the way additive manufacturing is shaping our society. The technology has infiltrated many sectors, from medical to automotive! Check out our selection of the week to keep up with the innovations! This week we touch on additive manufacturing for aerospace, at school and much more! If you enjoy these, you can view even more 3D printing videos on our Youtube channel. Hope you’ll enjoy and have a great Sunday!

Top 1: The use of additive manufacturing by NAVAIR

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) provides material support to U.S. Navy aircraft and airborne weapons. It uses additive manufacturing to create all kinds of parts, from tools to finished parts or rapid prototyping. NAVAIR has opted for different technologies, from melt deposition to metal 3D printing, in order to meet the requirements of the aeronautics sector and provide more efficient and less costly solutions:

Top 2: Cobra Aero and Renishaw

Cobra Aero is an American company that designs engines for motorcycles, small cars and drones. It has recently invested in metal 3D printers, including Renishaw’s solutions to enable faster product launches. Additive manufacturing allows teams to test their ideas and develop concepts much faster, all in-house. Their R&D phase is therefore shorter and the market launch is advanced:

Top 3: BigRep large format 3D printer

The German manufacturer BigRep is renowned for its large format 3D printers, offering printing volumes of at least one cubic meter. The video below shows us its latest industrial machine, the BigRep Pro, capable of creating 1005 x 1005 x 1005 mm parts. The extrusion system has been redesigned on this 3D printer, which now integrates the MXT solution – Metering Extruder Technology – to achieve much higher speeds and accuracy. The BigRep meets the needs of manufacturers who design large, resistant and high-performance parts at a lower cost:

Top 4: 3D printing at school

3D technologies can play a key role in education and bring a new approach to learning. Indeed, thanks to 3D printers and 3D pens, young students are able to better visualise certain concepts, which allows them to better retain them. These advantages are well understood by the manufacturer 3DExter, which organises workshops for students in India and provides them with FDM 3D printers. He hopes to encourage experimental learning and encourage children to discover this technology:

Top 5: The Metal X from Markforged

The Metal X, from Markforged is a metal 3D printer, that is considered affordable for metals. In this video, you will see the whole process of additively manufacturing a piece!
