Avimetal, a Beijing-based subsidiary of Jingcheng Electromechanical, recently announced the expansion of its additive manufacturing operations with a new facility in the Xuzhou Economic Development Zone. The 8,000 square meter plant will increase production of Avimetal’s metal 3D printers and serve as a key site for new product development and process optimization. According to the company, the facility will allow for the production of over 300 machines annually, a move that strengthens its position in the industrial AM market.
Alongside the new plant, Avimetal also revealed that it has relocated its corporate headquarters to a new standalone facility in Beijing. This new headquarters will now serve as the main hub for research and development across its powder materials, AM systems, and industrial software teams. The relocation is expected to help streamline internal logistics and improve operational efficiency, particularly as the company continues to expand its product portfolio and customer base.
Avimetal’s range of metal AM machines, alongside its advanced powder production equipment
Founded in 2015, Avimetal has developed a vertically integrated production network across China, including three main facilities focused on powder production, machine development, and full-system support. The company currently produces more than 200 types of metal powder alloys, including titanium & aluminum, cobalt-chrome, and refractory metals like tungsten and molybdenum. These materials support a wide range of AM applications across industries such as aerospace, medical, tooling, and energy. With these new upgrades, Avimetal expects to increase its total annual powder output to more than 5,000 tons.
Avimetal entered the AM hardware space in 2021 with the launch of four Laser Powder Bed Fusion machines. Its largest system features a build volume of 1250 by 1250 by 1500 millimeters and supports up to 12 lasers, making it well suited for large, complex parts. As production ramps up at the new Xuzhou facility, the company plans to scale access to these advanced systems and increase availability for both domestic and global customers.
Avimetal’s new headquarters will be located in Beijing.
As a state-owned company, Avimetal reflects China’s ongoing push to lead in advanced manufacturing and materials innovation. The expansion in Xuzhou is part of a broader strategy to strengthen local capabilities and reduce reliance on external supply chains. For Avimetal, these new investments highlight the company’s growing role in industrial-scale AM and its commitment to building a more competitive and self-sustaining manufacturing ecosystem.
