The TCT Awards 2023, sponsored by HP, celebrated the remarkable achievements and contributions in the field of 3D printing. The event took place at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham and witnessed over 200 industry professionals gathered to honor the winners. The evening highlighted groundbreaking innovations, applications, and the induction of influential figures into the esteemed TCT Hall of Fame. The TCT Awards are divided into two categories: Innovations and Applications. The Innovation categories focus on advancements in hardware, software, materials, and post-processing techniques. The Application categories recognize how 3D technologies are implemented to drive improvements across various domains, including finance, business, social causes, environment, and education. The winners and highly commended entries were chosen through voting by the TCT Advisory Board, comprised of esteemed industry experts.

The TCT Hall of Fame celebrated the lifetime achievements of two distinguished individuals in the additive manufacturing community. Diana Kalisz, a veteran with over 30 years at 3D Systems, played a pivotal role in the development and commercialization of additive manufacturing technology and materials. Professor Jean-Pierre Kruth, a renowned researcher and co-founder of Materialise, contributed significantly to the field, authoring numerous scientific papers and founding several spin-outs.
Selected Winners and Highlights
The TCT Awards 2023 recognized exceptional achievements in the additive manufacturing field. Hyphen Innovation received the Aerospace & Defence Application Award for their groundbreaking i-DAMP method, reducing vibration stresses in critical turbine engine parts. Markforged, in collaboration with Larsen Motorsports, won the Automotive & Rail Application Award for their custom 3D-printed steering wheel, enhancing safety in high-speed racing vehicles.
Shapeways and Microsoft stood out in the Consumer Product Application category, creating the Microsoft Adaptive Accessories that empower users with customized 3D-printed add-ons for enhanced productivity. Mackinnon and Saunders, along with their partners, revolutionized stop motion animation by using 3D metal printing technology to create more durable puppets for the movie “Pinocchio.” These winners represent the innovation, creativity, and real-world impact fostered by additive manufacturing technologies.
