Stratasys is an American manufacturer of 3D printers and 3D production systems for rapid prototyping, as well as other manufacturing solutions. Stratasys printers print complex models in a range of thermoplastics, such as ABS, PPSF, and PC. Stratasys sell a large number of printers (over 25) each targeted to different industries. In 2016 Stratasys had an income of $20M based on revenues of $600M. They employ around 2800 people currently.
After being founded in 1989 by S. Scott Crump, the company's early success led to an Initial Public Offering in 1994, based on a total share value of $5.7M.
In May 2011, Stratasys acquired Solidscape.
In April 2012, Stratasys merged with Objet, creating a $3bn total value company.
In June 2013, Stratasys purchased MakerBot for $403M.
Stratasys now offer a range of printers in industries such as architecture, dental, production, and design. These printers include the Stratasys J750, and F123 Series, as well as the Objet24, 30, 30 Prime printers.
