The Sapphire XC 1MZ, similar to the Sapphire XC, is a state-of-the-art 3D printer designed for the aerospace and defense industries, produced by Velo3D, a leading manufacturer of high-performance metal additive manufacturing machines. The printer is also known for its application in the oil and gas industry, as well as the transportation sector. In the Sapphire family product line, the Sapphire XC 1MZ is the (as of now) penultimate and largest one yet. The printer is known for it’s capability of producing high-quality, complex parts with exceptional surface quality, powered by Velo3D’s Intelligent Fusion technology, which includes a proprietary print preparation software suite and real-time process monitoring for quality control. The software features sophisticated part analysis, parameter assignment using Flow, and sophisticated build tracking using roughly 1,000 sensors. Features of the Sapphire XC 1MZ
While the Sapphire XC is smaller in stature and has a smaller build volume of 600mm x 550m, the Sapphire XC 1MZ has a larger build volume that measures at 600mm x 1000mm. This is the significant element that distinguishes the Sapphire XC 1MZ from the Sapphire XC. The Sapphire XC 1MZ’s larger build volume makes it more suitable for printing larger parts. However, the Sapphire XC Printer offers an improved recoater system and advanced print preparation software suite, making it a better option for high-volume production of large, complex parts. Other characteristics of the Sapphire XC 1MZ include automated optics calibrations, self-cleaning laser windows, and eight 1kW Class 1 lasers.
