Tiertime’s X5 printer is an FDM-based solution (described by the firm as MEM (Melted Extrusion Modelling) which is designed for low-volume manufacturing. It was released in 2019 by the Chinese manufacturer and offers continuous 3D printing with the capability to feed up to 8 build plates onto its build platform.

The extruder has a maximum travel speed of 200mm/sec and the printed parts are of a high quality, with an accuracy of +/-0.1mm/100mm. The layer resolution can vary between 0.05mm to 0.4mm.

Features of the X5

The X5 has a number of intuitive features which improve the user experience, including an auto-swapping build plate which automatically loads fresh print plates once the previous print is completed: twelve of these build plates are held within the printer. This automation saves time and means the user does not have to physically be there to do it themselves. Another feature is the previewable and editable support structures, meaning you can make changes throughout the process for the perfect outcome. The interface is intuitive and accessible for those who need large print text, due to the 7″ full colored LCD touchscreen. The X5 also comes with a dual filtration system to reduce the toxic UFP (ultra-fine particles) and VOC (volatile organic compounds) emissions.

If you want to print with polymers like ABS and TPU, you can purchase a separate print head and open up the possibilities of materials available to you.
