In the past few years, China’s status in the 3D printing industry has gone from being known mostly for polymer, B2C printers, to becoming a real powerhouse with many manufacturers of industrial additive manufacturing solutions, including those using metal. But what does this mean for the wider AM sector? How will the new Asian giants compete in Europe and the United States? These questions have been on the minds of many as they have seen the meteoric rise of companies like Bambu Lab and Bright Light Technologies, among others. To help answer them, our own Filippos Voulpiotis sat down with Gil Lavi, a leader in the AM community and the CEO and founder of 3D Alliances, to learn more.
In the conversation, Gil touched upon a number of topics. He discussed the fast growth of the Asian 3D printing market and its expansion into Europe. This including a discussion on how it is impacting the global industry and what is next for both Asia and the West. Adding onto that, Gil mentioned how the distinct differences in both markets, with Asian companies able to scale more effectively while European and American AM solutions providers tend to prioritize innovation.
