Continuous fiber 3D printing is not new to manufacturing. Industrial systems have used it for years to produce parts strong enough to substitute for machined metal. However, the equipment, materials, and expertise required for carbon fiber printing have kept it confined to large manufacturers and aerospace suppliers.
Now, after raising over $4.6 million on Kickstarter from 1,539 backers, FibreSeek has opened a global pre-sale limited to 500 units of the FibreSeeker 3: the first desktop 3D printer to bring continuous fiber reinforcement out of industrial settings.
FibreSeek’s proprietary CFC technology will allow users to print parts that are strong enough to replace certain metal components.
The machine uses Composite Fiber Co-Extrusion (CFC) to embed unbroken continuous carbon fiber directly into the plastic matrix as it prints, similarly to how steel rebar reinforces concrete. This allows users to create functional parts that are lightweight and strong enough to stand in for certain metal components.
Who’s It For, and What They’ll Build
FibreSeek is targeting engineers, makers, and small engineering teams who need functional, load-bearing parts. The company points to lightweight components, tooling, robotics elements, and drone parts as core applications. The FibreSeeker 3 presents a way to produce end-use parts in-house that would previously have required outsourcing to a machine shop or an industrial composite supplier.
How the FibreSeeker 3 Works
The FibreSeeker 3 functions thanks to FibreSeek’s core technology, Composite Fibre Co-Extrusion (CFC). During printing, dry continuous reinforcing fiber is impregnated in real time with a liquid polymer matrix, forming a pre-impregnated strand that is then co-extruded alongside a thermoplastic filament. FibreSeek says this in-situ impregnation reduces voids and maximizes fiber volume ratio, allowing the continuous fiber to bear loads along engineered paths within the part.
The hardware is paired with FibreSeek’s proprietary slicing software, Rocket Slicer, built to reduce the complexity of composite printing for beginners and experienced engineers alike. The software to help determine reinforcement strategy, reducing trial-and-error during print preparation, and offers three application-driven print modes:
- Speedy for fast turnaround,
- Reinforced for balanced structural integrity,
- Fortified for maximum fiber load and structural performance.
On specifications, FibreSeek cites a build volume of 300 x 300 x 245 mm, and print speeds of up to 500 mm/s. The machine also features a patented dual-nozzle system, a 65°C active heated chamber, auto-leveling and calibration, an integrated intelligent camera for monitoring, and support for multiple filament types.
Built on Industrial and Aerospace Foundations
You’ve likely already caught wind of FibreSeek, which first started making a buzz around Formnext 2025. The company was founded by a team of scientists, engineers, and product innovators with the goal of bringing continuous fiber 3D printing to a broader market. Their technology builds on industrial-grade continuous fiber and aerospace engineering expertise, which FibreSeek has re-engineered into desktop-format hardware, software, and materials.
FibreSeek is led by founder and CEO Ryan Liu, a 2024 Forbes China 30 Under 30 honoree and an engineer-turned-entrepreneur. Liu worked on industrial-grade continuous fiber printing systems before founding FibreSeek to bring that expertise to a desktop platform.
Liu has pointed to community feedback as a driver of the product’s development. During the FibreSeeker 3 crowdfunding campaign, he listened closely to community feedback and led the decision to upgrade the product from Version 1.0 to Version 2.0 following extensive engineering evaluation. Despite the additional supply chain costs and adjustments to the original delivery plan, the team chose to invest in long-term product quality and user experience.
Pre-Sale Details
FibreSeek is opening a global pre-sale of the FibreSeeker 3, limited to 500 units worldwide. The rollout is staggered by region, and it will launch in Australia on September 10th, and in the United States on September 15th.
Early-bird pricing is set at 4,699 AUD (reduced from 4,999 AUD) for the Australian market and 3,199 USD (reduced from 3,499 USD) for the U.S. market.
