WEBINAR: From the Deep Sea to Humanoid Robots, Building Industrial Parts on the Carbon Platform

Industrial and robotics hardware rarely gets an easy ride. Parts have to withstand pressure, moisture, chemicals, heat and constant contact, while development teams are under pressure to iterate faster than ever. Traditional tooling and single-process manufacturing often can’t keep pace. On October 22,  3Dnatives and Carbon will show how the right mix of material, design approach and production partner can turn ambitious hardware concepts into end-use parts that perform in the real world.

Thursday, October 22 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT / 5:00 – 6:00 PM CEST, including live Q&A

What We’ll Cover

Through two different applications, this session will break down what it takes to move demanding parts from CAD to deployment on the Carbon platform:

  • A manifold built for the deep sea: How Sherpa Design developed a sampling manifold for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) after earlier materials pitted, leaked and softened under bleach cleaning. The final part, printed in Carbon EPX 150 and finished with 5-axis machining, holds watertight seals at 500 psi and is now deployed in MBARI’s autonomous sampling system.
  • Designing for manufacturing from day one: Why bringing designers, engineers and machinists together from the very first CAD model means problems get solved in the design.
  • A lattice skin for humanoid robots: How computational design and Carbon’s EPU elastomers make it possible to tune a lattice zone by zone for protective cushioning, breathability and light weight on robot arms.
  • Prototype to production, no tooling required: How parts can move from first prototype to full production in the final material, without any tooling investment.

Who Should Attend:

  • Design and mechanical engineers developing hardware that must survive harsh environments, from pressure and moisture to chemical exposure and repeated contact.
  • Robotics and product development teams looking to iterate faster and bring custom, high-performance components to market without tooling delays.
  • Manufacturing and operations managers evaluating how additive manufacturing combined with post-processing like CNC machining can support production-grade parts.
  • Decision-makers in marine, robotics, industrial equipment and other demanding sectors weighing the move from prototyping to end-use production.

If you’re building hardware that has to hold up where conventional materials and processes fall short, register now to secure your spot.
