Bambu Lab has been one of the most successful examples of commercial 3D printers in recent years and it seems that all news surrounding the company is eagerly anticipated, especially new 3D printers. Now it seems its fans no longer need to wait. Last year in October, the Shenzhen-based manufacturer announced a new printer series for 2025, after the original plans for a release in fall 2024 could not be met and the new H2D 3D printer has officially been unveiled.
Last year, when announcing the new 3D printer would be coming in 2025, Bambu promised that there would be “no compromises” on the new printers. Bambu Lab wanted to create something even bigger and more impressive, as CEO and co-founder Dr. Tao announced in the press release from October 2024: “We are building something that will push the boundaries of what is possible in 3D printing for consumers.”

This announcement was not followed by anything for a long time. It was only in the last few weeks that rumors about the new Bambu Lab printer intensified after an apparently leaked image appeared on social media and immediately made the rounds. Even though Bambu Lab did not confirm anything publicly, the printer was said to have a volume of 350 x 320 x 325 mm, be equipped with a dual nozzle system and a new version of the popular AMS system. Since the Facebook leak, the mystery also has a name: H2D. And today, March 25th, the printer has officially been released.
A Closer Look at the H2D 3D Printer From Bambu Lab
The first look at the new H2D shows how accurate the leaks were. In fact, the print volume matches what was assumed in advance, and the dual hotend and a new AMS system can also be found. Some users were convinced that they had also recognized a laser module from the leaked images. It was then rumored whether the new 3D printer could also be used for laser engraving. This bold assumption turned out to be true!
Indeed, it seems that the H2D will go beyond the understanding of a conventional desktop 3D printer with Bambu Lab seemingly working to open up the field for a new category of product. The H2D is at the same time a 3D printer for multiple colors or materials, and a laser cutter and laser engraver.
In addition, the H2D also has a pen holder for drawing and labeling. Bambu Lab therefore presents an all-in-one device for DIY projects and “rethink personal manufacturing,” as the website states.
The H2D is equipped with a new AMS system.
An All-in-One Device for DIY Projects
Let’s start with the most prominent 3D printing feature. The H2D boasts a generous print volume as previously mentioned and an impressive print speed of up to 1000 mm/s. Constant printing meanwhile should take about 600 mm/s. The hotend can be heated up to 350°C, and the two nozzles guarantee efficient and fast printing with multiple filaments. As a result, H2D is also compatible with carbon- and glass-fiber reinforced composite filaments.
The filaments are fed by a new AMS system, AMS 2, which, like the first generation, is a filament handling tool that dries, stores and feeds the materials. The new versions, AMS Pro and AMS HT, are equipped with servo motors, which additionally accelerate the printing process.
Another feature that increases the quality of the print results is the bird’s eye view camera in conjunction with computer vision algorithms. This allows the alignment and use of materials to be optimized, which ultimately leads to less waste.
Now to the absolute novelties of the device, the laser module. As mentioned, the H2D can also perform laser engraving and laser cutting. For this purpose, it is equipped with a 10W and 40W 455nm laser, which enables engraving and cutting of plywood with a thickness of 5 mm and 15 mm respectively.
The H2D also has a special rotating unit for processing structures with a round base diameter (cylinders, rings, etc.). Air Assist ensures better cooling of the laser path, which improves the surface quality. With these functions, the limit will truly be the imagination of the user!
The numerous features open up new creative possibilities
Apart from this, it is possible to control the H2D remotely via the cloud – regardless of the device from which the command is issued. To ensure data security, there is also full offline functionality. Users can therefore control the device, start prints, send files or carry out updates even without an internet connection. The device should be available from June 2025 in various price categories and versions.
All in all, it can be said that Bambu Lab has set the bar high. Competitors will have to step up to the plate and show innovation in order to keep up in the long term. The Bambu Lab community should be delighted with the new features and we are eager to see what the initial reactions will be. You can find out more about the device HERE.
