Bambu Lab is preparing to enter the 3D scanning market with the S1, its first device of this type, scheduled for release in November 2026. For now, the available information is very limited. The company has posted an image of the scanner on its official website and set up a form for users to sign up for updates, but it has not yet released its technical specifications or price.
For now, Bambu Lab has limited itself to revealing the design of its new scanner and previewing its offering with the slogan “Easy in Hand. Pro in Every Scan.”
Ease of Use, One of the S1’s Key Features
Bambu Lab has made a name for itself in the desktop 3D printing market by making this technology accessible to users seeking simpler setup and manufacturing processes. Bringing that experience to 3D scanning presents a different challenge.
Obtaining a usable scan depends on more than just capturing an object. Accuracy, surface characteristics, processing software, and the work required to produce a usable digital model all play a role.
For now, Bambu Lab has not provided details on what technology the S1 will use, what level of accuracy it will achieve, or what its workflow will be like. Its connectivity and processing requirements are also unknown.
The Diversification of Bambu Lab’s Product Line
The announcement comes just a few weeks after Bambu Lab unveiled the R1, a 55 W CO₂ laser cutting and engraving machine. With this launch, the company entered a new product category beyond its 3D printers. The arrival of the S1 expands this strategy and points toward a product line that covers different stages of the manufacturing process.
Scan quality and ease of use will be two key factors in evaluating the S1. We’ll have to wait for the full unveiling to learn about its features and see if Bambu Lab succeeds in bringing the accessible experience it strives to offer with its products to the world of 3D scanning. We’ll be keeping an eye out to share the news with you!
