Ma il loro uso \u00e8 diventato talmente intensivo che le mascherine sono ora al centro di un serio problema di inquinamento. Per contrastare questo fenomeno, un team di scienziati dell&#8217;Universit\u00e0 di Bristol sembra aver trovato una soluzione. La loro idea \u00e8 quella di raccogliere le mascherine chirurgiche difettose o inutilizzabili per riciclarle e trasformarle in materiale per la stampa 3D, pi\u00f9 precisamente in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/it\/filamenti-stampante-3d-011120219\/\">filamenti<\/a>. In questo modo, i ricercatori sperano di mitigare l&#8217;impatto delle mascherine sull&#8217;ambiente e di offrire filamenti da materiali riciclati agli utenti della tecnologia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Secondo il National Geographic, circa 129 miliardi di mascherine vengono utilizzate ogni mese, il che significa che quasi 3,4 miliardi di mascherine vengono eliminate ogni giorno in tutto il mondo. Si tratta di una cifra enorme e particolarmente impressionante, soprattutto perch\u00e9 la stragrande maggioranza dei DPI finisce in mare, nelle strade o in natura, generando ancora pi\u00f9 inquinamento per via dei loro componenti in plastica. A questo proposito, lo studio di Environmental Advances spiega che una singola mascherina pu\u00f2 rilasciare in mare fino a 173.000 microfibre al giorno. Ebbene s\u00ec, come altri oggetti di uso quotidiano, le mascherine contengono fibre di plastica, come il polipropilene, che rimangono nell&#8217;ambiente per decenni prima di degradarsi. Le mascherine vengono poi riscaldate e pressate con un ferro da stiro e della carta antiaderente, per trasformarle in fogli rigidi. Una volta completata questa fase, vengono macinati in fini granuli di polipropilene, il materiale con cui sono realizzate le mascherine. Infine, i granuli blu passano attraverso una macchina trafilatrice che li trasforma in filamento. Grazie alla serie di processi ad alta temperatura, le mascherine sono disinfettate e non contengono batteri o virus.<\/p><div class=\"dnati-inside-article\" style=\"text-align: center;\" id=\"dnati-1017451914\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/app.swapcard.com\/event\/additiv-defense-2026\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"LB (4)\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/04\/LB-4.gif\" alt=\"\"  width=\"850\" height=\"150\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Per ottenere un filamento adatto al processo di stampa, il team ha optato per Filastuder, una macchina che permette di progettare i filamenti secondo le specifiche desiderate.
