Presenta caratteristiche molto interessanti per numerose applicazioni: trasparenza, inerzia chimica, isolamento elettrico, resistenza al calore e riciclabilit\u00e0. Nonostante i suoi vantaggi, \u00e8 ancora raramente utilizzato nella <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/it\/produzione-additiva\/\">produzione\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/impression-3d-verre-guide-06052024\/\">additiva<\/a> perch\u00e9 richiede temperature di fusione molto elevate \u2013 circa 1.000 \u00b0C \u2013 e un ambiente termico altamente controllato. Tuttavia, un recente progetto del Lincoln Laboratory potrebbe cambiare le cose. Un team \u00e8 riuscito a stampare in 3D oggetti in vetro a basse temperature: la loro tecnica <em>direct ink printing<\/em> consente di iniziare il processo a temperatura ambiente, per poi proseguire con un trattamento termico a soli 250 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La tecnologia <em>direct ink printing<\/em> si basa su un inchiostro speciale composto da una soluzione di silicato e nanoparticelle di altre sostanze inorganiche. Questo inchiostro viene quindi estruso, strato per strato, attraverso un ugello da 410 micron, garantendo un controllo estremamente preciso del processo di stampa. L&#8217;inchiostro pu\u00f2 essere depositato su un substrato di plastica, metallo, vetro o silicone, il tutto a temperatura ambiente. Le particelle di silicato reagiranno tra loro e con le particelle di silice per formare un oggetto tridimensionale.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_90120\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-90120\" class=\"size-full wp-image-90120\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Glass_3DP.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-90120\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Il processo di stampa 3D del vetro per fasi<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dopo questa fase di stampa a temperatura ambiente, il team procede a una fase\u00a0di <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/it\/post-processing-stampa-3d-141020229\/\">post-processing<\/a> per garantire la stabilit\u00e0 strutturale del componente. Il componente viene immerso in un bagno di olio minerale riscaldato a 250 \u00b0C. Viene quindi completamente <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/it\/lavaggio-polmerizzazione-resina-stampa-3d-051220249\/\">polimerizzato<\/a>. In seguito, viene pulito in un solvente organico \u2013 una miscela di toluene e isopropanolo \u2013 per rimuovere tutti i minerali residui. Secondo il team del Lincoln Laboratory, i test effettuati hanno prodotto strutture ad altissima risoluzione, con un ritiro ridotto e un&#8217;ottima stabilit\u00e0 termica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I risultati iniziali sono quindi molto promettenti e potrebbero facilitare l&#8217;accesso alla stampa 3D del vetro. Sebbene le fasi di post-processing allunghino certamente il processo di produzione, la notevole riduzione delle temperature di lavorazione \u00e8 vantaggiosa. Per il momento, il team sta lavorando al miglioramento della trasparenza ottica del vetro prodotto e allo sviluppo di altri inchiostri che offrano propriet\u00e0 chimiche ed elettriche diverse.
