Now the Danish company Monoqool has their slider glasses out. Their version of 3D printed eyewear to hit the market. The 3D printed glasses are presented through a sleek design. Will your next pair of glasses be nicely designed 3D printed eyewear instead of traditional?

Top 2: 3D printing in Rwanda

We have previously covered how 3D prosthetics can help in crisis situations all around the globe. Now a project in Rwanda has been started, guided by Jon Racek, a senior lecturer from the Indiana University of Art, Architecture and Design. He has spent a year creating 3D prosthetic arms for the children in Rwanda. Racek’s have previously set an overall goal to design objects with a changing effect on communities. Without a doubt this has done so. This is a key ingredient of the concrete and mortar used to build various elements of infrastructure. The cement they have created gets tougher under pressure similar to the shells of arthropods like lobsters and beetles. This specific technique combining their cement based material with Bio inspired designs could potentially contribute to more resilient structures during natural disasters etc. An innovation that could help out a lot over coming years.

Top 4: 3D printing in Libraries

The library has always been the focus point of knowledge. The various locations is where people gather to look up books for interest or study alike. Now some of them are updating to include 3D printing to further prepare the public moving forward. Fairfax County Public Library has implemented 3D printers in some of their locations. Their new program provides the possibility to print your design for free on their 3D printers. So now if you want to learn more about the technology or need to print. You can ones again simply go to the library and check it out.

Top 5: HP Metal Jet & Volkswagen

Not long back did we cover the announcements of HP’s Metal Jet initiatives coming up. Now the HP Metal Jet technology has already been implemented with Volkswagen’s manufacturing process.
