Thanks to 3D printing and a team of researchers at Swansea University in the UK, a new innovation for medicine has been born and it goes by the name of \u201cSmart Bandage\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This research project, which was led by the Institute of Life Science (ILS) at Swansea University, \u00a0wanted to\u00a0help fix a common issue when it comes to wounds and bandages, and that is the issue of not knowing if a wound is properly healing after the bandage is applied. Packing the bandage with tiny sensors that were developed by nanotechnology experts, the bandage will have the ability to monitor the wound and enable them to \u201ctailor the treatment protocol to the individual wound in question\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1042 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/photo-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"Smart Bandages\" width=\"620\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/photo-1-1.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/photo-1-1-160x70.jpg 160w, https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/photo-1-1-300x132.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Smart Bandages\u2019 clinical trial phase has already begun and is taking place through the Swansea University\u2019s ARCH (A Regional Collaboration For Health) in the Southwest Wales region.
