Jean Paul Gaultier turned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/what-is-additive-manufacturing\/\">additive manufacturing<\/a> for five looks in its Autumn\/Winter 2026-27 haute couture collection, shown in Paris in July.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The collection was Duran Lantink&#8217;s first couture outing as creative director of the house. The Dutch designer builds garments that reshape the body rather than conform to it: a bust that could have come out of a Dal\u00ed painting, and an exoskeleton built to read as a feathered serpent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PM-RP5pKeMs?si=T7k1AzHYHTj3Zac4\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Designer ROMI, who developed the collection&#8217;s printed pieces, turned to French 3D printing service Sculpteo to produce the components. The parts were printed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/pa11-vs-pa12-which-nylon-should-you-choose-for-3d-printing-250420244\/\">PA12<\/a> and flexible TPU, with the structural pieces produced on HP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/the-complete-guide-to-multi-jet-fusion-mjf-3d-printing\/\">Multi Jet Fusion<\/a> (MJF) and the scales for Look 19 on SLS.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Five 3D printed looks, five hand finishes<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Look 7, the deformed bustier, arrived at Matisse Di Maggio&#8217;s Paris atelier fresh off the printer in raw TPU. Sanding and priming came first, then the latex bath. To achieve that lifelike finish, the bust was repeatedly dipped into a pool of latex tinted to match the model&#8217;s skin. The detail didn&#8217;t stop there. Freckles and moles were hand-painted on. The snake scales dress is built entirely from individual PA12 scales, each printed separately on SLS, then sewn on by hand. They overlap in rows down the garment the way they do on an actual snake. That scan was then reworked in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/3d-printing-software\/\">3D modeling software,<\/a> growing animal-like protrusions until the torso had turned into something closer to a feathered serpent. Sculpteo printed the result in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/tpe-vs-tpu-filament-18062026\/\">TPU<\/a>, in sections, and those were assembled into one exoskeleton. Whitaker Malem formed the leather over that base into an armored torso shell, closed with nut-and-bolt tabs. The printer made the shape; the ateliers made it couture.
