Just last week, we told you about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/apple-3d-printing-aluminum-new-products-11032026\/\">Apple\u2019s<\/a> new products and their use of this technology. This week, it\u2019s Chinese manufacturer OPPO\u2019s turn, as the company has announced a new foldable smartphone made possible by 3D printing. The device, the Find N6, officially launched on March 17 in the Asia-Pacific region and other selected markets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"1118\">Since the first foldable phones appeared, the central crease has been the biggest obstacle to achieving a perfect user experience and convincing more consumers to switch to this type of device. If you\u2019ve ever owned a foldable phone, you know that the line between the two screens can become more pronounced over time and eventually become annoying. To solve this problem, OPPO has developed Zero-Feel Crease technology, an innovation that creates a perfectly flat internal support surface, eliminating the long-standing issue of a visible crease.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IfViBxqRnI4?si=hvHryPN3ZpV5QgtQ\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"175\" data-end=\"517\">The key to this technical breakthrough lies in the use of 3D printing to manufacture the hinge. In fact, additive manufacturing is used at two different stages. First, the hinge itself and the side plates are 3D printed in grade 5 titanium. Second, OPPO uses what it calls Liquid 3D Printing, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/stereolithography-explained100420174\/\">stereolithography<\/a>, to refine the hinge system.<\/p><div class=\"dnati-inside-article-leaderboard\" style=\"text-align: center;\" id=\"dnati-3309589544\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/app.swapcard.com\/login\/event\/additiv-defense-2026\/ticket\/VGlja2V0VHlwZV83MDM4MQ==\/page\/UmVnaXN0cmF0aW9uRm9ybV81NjE4Ng==\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"LB\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/03\/LB.gif\" alt=\"\"  width=\"850\" height=\"150\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"519\" data-end=\"903\">The process begins with a laser scan that detects even the smallest irregularities in the hinge. <span style=\"font-size: 1em;\">A 3D printer then \u201capplies droplets of a custom photopolymer measuring just 5 pL (picoliters) to fill in uneven areas with surgical precision.\u201d This cycle is repeated around 20 times until an ultra-precise support base for the screen is achieved, something that had not been possible until now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"519\" data-end=\"903\"><span style=\"font-size: 1em;\">As if that weren\u2019t enough, the device has received T\u00dcV Rheinland certification for its ability to remain completely flat even after 600,000 folds. With results like these, it is clear that additive manufacturing is increasingly being used as a precision technology within mass production.
