As you know, Formnext<\/a> is the perfect opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their latest products, whether they be machines, materials, software, or strategic partnerships to promote the adoption of additive manufacturing<\/a>. Once again, this year, machine manufacturers turned out in force, with many of them taking the opportunity to unveil their innovations. Among them is Anycubic, a Chinese company that has specialized in resin 3D printing<\/a> for 10 years now. While the brand focuses primarily on affordable desktop solutions, it also targets more professional consumers, as demonstrated by its new solutions presented this year. We had the opportunity to meet with the brand’s CTO, James Ouyang, to learn more about these innovations and understand how the company has carved out a place for itself in the 3D printing industry.<\/p>\n

3DN: Can you introduce yourself, tell us more about your background, and how you discovered 3D printing?<\/h2>\n

Hello, my name is James Ouyang, I\u2019m the CTO of Anycubic. Right after my graduation, I majored in material engineering. And then I joined the team with my childhood friends, which was back in 2015 when the Anycubic adventure started. We started in consumer-grade 3D printers, specifically resin machines. That was our focus for 8 years, I would say.<\/p>\n

Then, we started to look into FDM 3D printers.<\/a> We had a lot of demands from the market, from our users. They needed a solution which was faster, more efficient and complex, but also offering more materials. So this is why we are here today at Formext, bringing our new products to the industry and answering their needs.<\/p>

3DN: Anycubic has been a powerful actor in the 3D printing market for many years now. What makes it successful? How did you adapt to the market needs and evolution?<\/h2>\n

I strongly believe that the key is to always listen to the market, to what the customer needs. And sometimes, we don\u2019t listen very carefully, so we make mistakes. And I think the important part is to learn from these mistakes and correct what needs to be changed. It\u2019s a very good lesson. For Anycubic, that\u2019s what we did, and now, we are bringing products with more value. Our customers ask for faster and quieter machines, and that\u2019s what we are developing.<\/p>\n

3DN: What are the new products you are showing today?<\/h2>\n

So, we have two new solutions for FDM and one for resin. I\u2019ll start with the extrusion systems.<\/p>\n

One of the most exciting products we are showcasing today is the Kobra X<\/strong>. It’s a new entry-level 3D printer capable of multi-materials and multi-color printing without an external solution such as a filament box. It can handle up to 4 different materials at the same time, with less waste and less printing time. All the magic is in the printhead: we developed a whole new extrusion system with 5 gears inside. This enables us to change the filament very quickly, with less purging, so less waste.<\/p>\n

The second solution is the Kobra S1 Max<\/strong>. It\u2019s a larger and enclosed printer that can handle all the engineering materials (PET, nylon, ABS), thanks to better heat system management. It offers higher accuracy and quality, and a 350 x 350 x 350 mm printing volume.<\/p>\n

You can combine this solution with our brand new ACE 2 Pro, which is the third product I wanted to talk about today. It\u2019s a filament box to enable multi-material and multi-color 3D printing, which goes up to 65\u00b0C to ensure a smoother quality and protect the engineering-grade materials. We\u2019ve optimized the system to make the filament change even faster and easier.<\/p>\n

Finally, if we move to the resin family, our newest machine is the Photon P1. It\u2019s an LCD machine designed for professional users, offering industrial precision and repeatability. We\u2019ve improved the light source and motion system to provide a high quality. It is compatible with engineering-grade resins with a viscosity up to 8,000 cps, but also with elastic materials.<\/p>\n

3DN: What applications are you showing at Formnext 2025?<\/h2>\n

We have a lot of 3D printed pieces at the booth. From helmets to jewelry or shoes, you name it! I think our machines cover a wide range of applications, and it\u2019s just the beginning. With our resin solutions, you can go for pieces with a high level of detail and precision; it\u2019s fascinating. With our FDM machines, we\u2019re presenting functional parts and how we can combine hard and soft materials together.<\/p>\n
