The initiative aims to enhance maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations by integrating advanced automation and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/what-is-additive-manufacturing\/\">additive manufacturing<\/a> technologies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"518\" data-end=\"872\">The collaboration builds on the lab\u2019s initial phase from 2017, which invested S$68 million to modernize Rolls-Royce\u2019s fan blade production and optimize SAESL\u2019s repair processes. By integrating additive manufacturing into the MRO workflow, the partners aim to reduce lead times, minimize material waste, and improve the performance of complex parts. The upgraded processes are expected to help the Fan Blade Singapore facility boost production by over 30 percent without expanding its physical footprint.<\/p><div class=\"dnati-inside-article-leaderboard\" style=\"text-align: center;\" id=\"dnati-2008788358\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/us06web.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/3717757396787\/WN_sBfwcCHoQSq1mEANYpWa6Q\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"LB (3)\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/LB-3.gif\" alt=\"\"  width=\"850\" height=\"150\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1667\">The new phase complements SAESL\u2019s S$242 million expansion at Seletar, which includes the construction of a 26,000-square-meter facility and the redevelopment of its existing space. (Photo Credit: SAESL)<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1669\" data-end=\"2003\">To ensure the consistent quality of 3D-printed components, Singapore also introduced a new national standard, SS 708, which is called: \u201c<em>Additive Manufacturing for Aerospace: Filament Layer Manufacturing Process Specifications.<\/em>\u201d This new standard establishes clear guidelines for safe and reliable additive manufacturing within the nation&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/3d-printing-aeronautics-010320184\/\">aviation and related sectors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2005\" data-end=\"2397\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The SMJL initiative reflects a global trend toward digitally driven MRO operations, as aerospace manufacturers increasingly use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/3d-technologies\/\">3D printing<\/a> to improve efficiency and sustainability.
