{"id":6309,"date":"2017-12-20T00:01:58","date_gmt":"2017-12-20T00:01:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/?p=6309"},"modified":"2019-09-03T09:11:47","modified_gmt":"2019-09-03T09:11:47","slug":"3d-printing-holograms-221220174","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/3d-printing-holograms-221220174\/","title":{"rendered":"3D Printing with Holograms to Speed Up the Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A study conducted by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in collaboration with MIT, the University of Rochester and UC Berkley, demonstrates how the use of holograms in the 3D printing process can dramatically speed it up. 3D volumetric printing would be more effective than light-based methods.\u00a0According to the researchers, the power of this process lies in the abandonment of the traditional &#8220;layer-by-layer&#8221; approach.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hologram 3D printing had already made\u00a0headlines\u00a0with Daqri,\u00a0who developed hologram-based 3D printing technology.\u00a0It uses lasers to transform a photosensitive monomer into a solid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/plastics-used-3d-printing110420174\/\">plastic<\/a>.\u00a0As a continuation of this work, the LLNL conducted a study on this new process of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/3d-technologies\/\">additive manufacturing<\/a> also called volumetric 3D printing.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6313\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6313\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6313\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/hologram-printing-2.jpg\" alt=\"3d printing hologram\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/hologram-printing-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/hologram-printing-2-160x91.jpg 160w, https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/hologram-printing-2-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6313\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Daqri&#8217;s 3D printing with holograms.<\/p><\/div>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">3D Printing with Holograms<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">3D volumetric printing works by directing multiple light beams at a central point in a large tank of photosensitive resin. The rays alone are not strong enough to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/top-10-resin-3d-printers280320174\/\">3D print resin<\/a>.
