In this case, it’s the uncertainty that prevails, fueling a good deal of speculation. On Friday, September 13, photographer Tyler Mansour posted intriguing images on social networks of an avant-garde sports shoe bearing the adidas logo. The photos immediately triggered a wave of enthusiasm, especially as adidas had made no official announcement of the model. Faced with this mystery, the press quickly set out in search of information. A few clues have emerged concerning what some are already calling the mysterious “adidas Climamog.”

Let’s start with the facts: Tyler Mansour recently received an adidas shoe with the note, “Want to know what comfort really feels like?” The model features a futuristic design, with a slim, aerodynamic silhouette. Tyler Mansour claims that the shoe is not only very comfortable, but also breathable thanks to its openings.

Pictures of the new shoe

The shoe features adidas’ CLIMACOOL technology to wick away sweat, which gives its name to an entire adidas product line of clothing and shoes. This is probably where the name “Climamog” for the new sports shoe, inspired by running shoes, comes from. However, as the model arrived at Mansour in an unlabeled box, this name has not been officially confirmed.

Will adidas Reach the Next Level in 3D Printing With “Climamog”?

The shoe was 3D printed in one piece from 100% polyurethane. The one-piece looks a little chunky and the look is somewhat reminiscent of the 3D-printed sneakers from Zellerfeld. However, nothing is known about the printing process – which again gives way to plenty of speculation.

Furthermore, questions remain as to the identity of adidas’ partner in this venture. As we know, previously the company has previously worked with Carbon and OECHSLER, will this be the case again? Or has adidas itself expanded its 3D printing capacities in order to produce independently?

After all, 3D printing is nothing new at adidas, the German sporting goods manufacturer has already launched golf shoes with 3D-printed elements and the Futurecraft series. The move towards 3D printing is also a sign of adidas’ commitment to sustainability and provides an outlook for future production.

At the moment, nothing is known about the release date. However, the press has already spotted the “Climamog” on certain retail sites in Asia. This model should be available in Malaysia and Singapore in an off-white hue, with an estimated price of between $146 and $168.
