The idea of doing just that was recently realized thanks to a collaboration between the companies Covestro, Huafeng and Cyclone. Specifically, they have developed a solution to produce footwear in a more sustainable way. Using recycled polyester-based fabric (rPET) and the HAPTIC\u00ae 3D manufacturing system, the initiative has been a success and has resulted in creating these original sneakers, which are more environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nowadays, the combination of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/3d-printing-in-footwear-disrupting-industry-020120194\/\">additive manufacturing and footwear<\/a> is nothing new. Many of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/3d-printed-shoes-whats-available-on-the-market-today\/\">projects<\/a> we have already highlighted seek to offer original shoes quickly and optimally. Companies such as Adidas, New Balance or even Reebok are already relying on this new manufacturing method that offers customized solutions, at a lower cost and locally. Another one of the great advantages offered by the process is the reduction of wasted material, as well as the possibility of using recycled materials, which is the key aspect that makes the difference in the Covestro, Huafeng, and Cyclone project.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_58746\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58746\" class=\"wp-image-58746 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/es\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/cyclone1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-58746\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credits: Covestro<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>The 3D HAPTIC\u00ae Technology<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To manufacture the shoe and reduce its carbon footprint, the teams used CYCLONE\u00ae recycled polyester for the upper area of the shoe, which is selectively coated using Huafeng&#8217;s HAPTIC\u00ae technology. This process is based on the dispersion of polyurethane. Half of its carbon content comes from bio-based raw materials. Thanks to that, greenhouse gas emissions are significantly reduced compared to other production systems. &#8220;<em>This is good news for anyone who wants to maintain an athletically active and healthy lifestyle in the most environmentally friendly way possible,&#8221;<\/em> says Tony Wu, Global Marketing Manager, at Covestro.<\/p><div class=\"dnati-inside-article-leaderboard\" style=\"text-align: center;\" id=\"dnati-440017087\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/us06web.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/3717757396787\/WN_sBfwcCHoQSq1mEANYpWa6Q\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"LB (3)\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/LB-3.gif\" alt=\"\"  width=\"850\" height=\"150\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tony Wu also explains that the combination of Huafeng&#8217;s HAPTIC\u00ae 3D printing technology with other methods allows complex 3D shapes to be applied to footwear fabrics. This creates original, modern, high-performance designs that are ideal for the world of sports footwear. With regard to environmental responsibility, Dr. Thomas Schmidt, Head of Innovation at Huafeng, says:<em> &#8220;Sustainability is key to our market success at Huafeng.
