Breast cancer is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/fact-sheets\/detail\/breast-cancer#:~:text=Scope%20of%20the%20problem,the%20world's%20most%20prevalent%20cancer.\">most common<\/a> cancer across the world, and with breast cancer survival rates at 90%, the medical industry has ramped up efforts to enhance breast reconstruction treatments. To help improve the success rates of breast reconstruction surgeries for cancer survivors, regenerative medicine firm CollPlant has teamed up with one of the world\u2019s largest 3D printer manufacturers, 3D Systems. The firms will co-develop 3D bioprinted soft tissue structures for breast reconstruction treatments using<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/collplant-united-therapeutics-kidney-bioprinting-051020204\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rhCollagen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both companies have combined expertise in 3D printing, healthcare, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/bioprinting-projects-3d-printed-organs-070420205\/\">bioprinting<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/scientists-develop-oxygen-releasing-bioink-for-bioprinting-140920204\/\">bioinks<\/a>. \u201c<em>In January of this year, we announced our intention to increase the investment in regenerative medicine and focus on developing and commercializing solutions to change how healthcare is delivered and bring substantial benefits to patients,<\/em>\u201d said Dr. Jeffrey Graves, president &amp; chief executive officer, 3D Systems. \u201c<em>Through this project, we\u2019re embarking on with CollPlant, we\u2019re exploring a novel application that could offer a new reconstruction treatment for breast cancer survivors. In addition to supply shortages, these treatments face the challenge of batch variability and negative immune response during the healing process.
