The two bridges were made of plastic and measure 11 meters and 4 meters long.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With China\u2019s latest adventure in 3D printing, they thus join the ranks of other countries who have incorporated 3D printed bridges into their cityscapes: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/3d-printed-architecture030520174\/\">The 3D printed concrete bridge in Spain and the 3D printed steel bridge in the Netherlands.<\/a> Created under the \u201cShanghai Digital Future\u201d, a project that is being led by the school, the school is hoping to highlight how technologies today can revolutionize architecture and construction.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/c-1-31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2989 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/c-1-31.jpg\" alt=\"China 3D printed bridge\" width=\"620\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/c-1-31.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/c-1-31-160x85.jpg 160w, https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/c-1-31-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Their first bridge measures 11-meters long,\u00a0includes stairs and extends over a river within a garden. Their second bridge\u00a0measures 4-meters\u00a0long and is less intricate, as it is flat and only covers the water.<\/p><div class=\"dnati-inside-article-leaderboard\" style=\"text-align: center;\" id=\"dnati-712365813\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/app.swapcard.com\/login\/event\/additiv-defense-2026\/ticket\/VGlja2V0VHlwZV83MDM4MQ==\/page\/UmVnaXN0cmF0aW9uRm9ybV81NjE4Ng==\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"LB (4)\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/03\/LB-4.gif\" alt=\"\"  width=\"850\" height=\"150\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To create the two bridges, the project team used a Kuka robotic arm and a custom 3D printing module to check the reliability and repeatability of the process. A total of 360 hours of printing was required to complete their project, with the different parts of the bridges being assembled in front of the entrance to the university over the course of an entire day. As of right now, the two bridges are for display only, so if you\u2019re in Shanghai don\u2019t expect to take a walk over them anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/c-2-31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2988 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/c-2-31.jpg\" alt=\"China 3D printed bridge\" width=\"620\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/c-2-31.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/c-2-31-160x85.jpg 160w, https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/c-2-31-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The &#8220;Shanghai Digital Future&#8221; series will be presented until September 30th and could potentially open the field for other possible 3D construction and printing projects.
