The goal is to imitate the appearance and texture of real steak or chicken to end the exploitation of animals.\u00a0A dish that is apparently unappetising. However it offers an interesting alternative at a time when vegetarianism is gaining momentum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While we were working on the development of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/imprimante-3d-cantine-111020183\/\">3D printed menus<\/a>\u00a0in the canteen of a primary school not long back, we are now discovering another application of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/food-3d-printing220520184\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3D priniting in food.<\/a>\u00a0Namely the production of 3D printed meat, or more accurately a dish that mimics the appearance of a piece of steak.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_40836\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<div id=\"attachment_40836\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-40836\" class=\"wp-image-40836 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/article_filete3D2.jpg\" alt=\"3D printed steak\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-40836\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Giusseppe Scionti and his 3D printer<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Giusseppe Scionti&#8217;s 3D printed steak is made of rice, peas and seaweed.\u00a0From these ingredients, the researcher was able to create a reddish paste with a texture similar to that of red meat.\u00a0Although the aesthetics of the final product remains to be improved, the final goal is clear. To put an end to the exploitation of animals.<\/p><div class=\"dnati-inside-article-leaderboard\" style=\"text-align: center;\" id=\"dnati-2173719469\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/us06web.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/3717757396787\/WN_sBfwcCHoQSq1mEANYpWa6Q\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"LB (3)\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/LB-3.gif\" alt=\"\"  width=\"850\" height=\"150\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Scionti explained in an interview for the Daily Mail: &#8220;<em>The taste of the first prototypes is good, but it does&#8217;t mimic the taste of animal meat, yet.<\/em> &#8221;\u00a0He continues, <em>&#8220;However, that does not worry me, because the technologies to imitate the taste of animal meat have already been developed in the last years, while the main challenge for me was to obtain the animal meat-like consistency and texture, which was not invented yet.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40838\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/article_filete3D1.jpg\" alt=\"steak printed in 3D\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>The process of creating a 3D printed steak<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The proteins and algae used to design this piece of vegetable meat would be natural and approved worldwide.\u00a0The Italian researcher explains that he modified a 3D printer to which he added a syringe to extrude the paste;\u00a0the mixture is transformed into printing micro-filaments that form the piece of meat layer by layer.\u00a0The secret of the final texture lies more in the recipe for this paste than in the printing itself.\u00a0But it is undoubtedly this technique of manufacture that could give it the desired aspect.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40840\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3dnatives.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/article_filete3D4.jpg\" alt=\"steak printed in 3D\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Scionti would currently be able to produce 110 grams of raw vegetarian steak in 30 to 50 minutes. A time he hopes to reduce to offer a faster manufacturing method than the existing ones. The goal is to reach 10 minutes from start to finish.\u00a0The cost of production would also be very interesting. The Italian says that it will not exceed 50 cents. Good news for all vegetarians, a group that is increasing their numbers daily.\u00a0Finally, Scionti explains that he has already approached some chefs with his idea.
