Remember the American startup based in Texas: ICON? Now the company has presented their project of\u00a03D printed houses,<\/a>\u00a0created in few hours\u00a0and at an unbeatable price. ICON\u00a0has just announced that a fundraising effort raised $ 9 million. The money will help develop its technology. As well as help pursue its goal of offering sustainable and affordable homes in just 24 hours to fight the housing crisis.<\/p>\n

3D printed building projects are growing faster and faster, although most of them are only in the test phase.\u00a0Many builders<\/a>\u00a0announce an effect from the arrival of 3D printed houses but beware of the authenticity of their ads. Last March, the ICON team claimed to have developed a method for 3D printing a 55 square meter home in less than 24 hours for a total of $ 4000. Co-founder and CEO of the American startup, Jason Ballard, says, “It\u2019s our mission at ICON to re-imagine the approach to homebuilding and construction and make affordable, dignified housing available to everyone throughout the world, We\u2019re in the middle of a global housing crisis and making old approaches a little better is not solving the problem.<\/em> The homebuilding industry needs a complete paradigm shift<\/em><\/em>.”<\/p>\n

The next step for ICON is to carry out strategic projects in the United States and abroad. This includes continuing its work with the New Story Association.\u00a0A second iteration of its 3D printer named Vulcan is expected to be unveiled in 2019. The startup also said it wanted to expand its team with the recruitment of technical profiles in robotics, materials and software.<\/p>\n
