RAPID + TCT 2024

RAPID + TCT 2024 is opening today! Attendees from all over the world have come to Los Angeles, California to attend the biggest North American event for additive manufacturing. But with features galore as well as more than 400 exhibitors present, where should you start? In anticipation of the first day, we have prepared a short list (not at all comprehensive) of some exciting exhibitors, focusing especially on those that are new to the show or those with interesting draws to their booths, to show you the possibilities. Check it out below and do not hesitate to let us know who we missed!

nTop Gives Attendees the Chance to Try 3D Printed Golf Clubs

Cobra Golf has made quite a stir in the past few weeks with its 3D printed golf clubs, which Bryson DeChambeau brought to a second place finish at the Masters last month. Now, you can see them yourself. nTop, whose software was used to design the clubs, will allow attendees at RAPID + TCT to try out the 3D-printed irons at their golf simulator at booth 1547. Not only that, but by going to the booth (or attending the keynote from Ryan Roach, at 1PM PDT on Wednesday), you will have the opportunity to win a set of LIMIT3D irons. A hole in one for the company?

ADDiTEC Showcases New Solution Including New LMJ Technology at RAPID + TCT 2024

Since AddiTEC acquired Elem Additive Manufacturing when Xerox phased out its 3D printing business in 2023, all have been curious about what will come next for the company. Now, at RAPID + TCT, attendees will be able to see for themselves. The company will be present at the event and notably showing its latest solution, the Hybrid3, which came out late last year. As its name suggests, machine will integrate both additive manufacturing and CNC, not only that but there are two 3D printing technologies, ADDiTEC’s original High-Power Laser-assisted Directed Energy Deposition (LDED) process and the new Liquid Metal Jetting (LMJ) from Elem. Nanoscribe and its Two-Photon Grayscale Lithography

In RAPID + TCT’s Discovery Zone, attendees will have the opportunity to mingle with companies who have never before attended the event. Among them is Nanoscribe, already known for its Two-Photon Polymerization (2PP), ideal for precise microfabrication. The company also has unveiled a new innovation, Two-Photon Grayscale Lithography or 2GL®. This additive technology has been designed, according to Nanoscribe, to generate “2.5D topographies” by scanning only one layer for drastically reduced print times. The process uses high-frequency synchronization of laser beam modulation and high-speed galvo mirrors for “single voxel tuning.” You can see it in action at RAPID + TCT with the Quantum X at booth 1851-28.

Aibuild to Unveil 2nd Version of AI 3D Printing Software at RAPID + TCT 2024

Since the rise of ChatGPT, artificial intelligence or just AI has been more in vogue than ever before as people see the vast possibilities it brings to the market. This includes 3D printing where software has already been developed for everything from design to optimization and everything in between. One example comes from London-based Aibuild, founded in 2015 and backed by Boeing and Nikon. The company’s data-driven AM platform “utilizes deep machine integration, Ai-driven toolpath generation and secure cloud-connectivity to provide repeatable, real-time control/monitoring for LFAM Gantry and Robotic systems.” Aibuild will be debuting the latest version of its software, Aibuild 2.0, at RAPID + TCT and visitors will be able to see it in action at booth 2661.

LDO’s Compact, ‘Upside-Down’ 3D Printer

Last but certainly not least, LDO Motors from south China, a specialist in motors, will be showcasing what they call “the world’s first portable upside-down printing 3D printer.” Named the Positron V3.2, the idea is that the compact printer can be folded up and fit inside a filament box, going from 200x200x270mm to 200x200x70mm and is both travel-friendly and airport-friendly according to the manufacturer. Although the first 3D printers have just started being sold, visitors will be able to see the machine in person at booth 2071.
