Which Automotive Manufacturers Are Using 3D Printing in the United States?

Published on October 22, 2025 by Joseph K

3D printing has become an increasingly essential technology in the automotive industry, transforming how vehicles are designed, prototyped, and even produced. From lightweight components to complex, custom geometries, additive manufacturing enables carmakers to innovate faster and reduce waste while enhancing performance. Today, nearly every major automaker leverages 3D printing in some form, whether for rapid prototyping, tooling, or end-use parts. To highlight this growing adoption, we have created a map showcasing the United States automotive manufacturers that are actively utilizing 3D printing technologies across the country.

Our map features well-established giants such as Ford and General Motors, including their subsidiary brands like Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and Buick, along with Stellantis, home to Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. It also includes a new wave of innovators such as Tesla, Rivian, Lucid Motors, Czinger, Aptera Motors, and Divergent Technologies, all of which are pushing the boundaries of automotive design and manufacturing. From Detroit to Silicon Valley, these companies are embracing additive manufacturing for everything from rapid prototyping and mold creation to fully 3D printed chassis components. Together, they represent the diverse and dynamic landscape of American automotive innovation driven by 3D printing technology.
