What Is the Takeaway From ADDITIV Polymers World?

Published on October 19, 2023 by Madeleine P.

It has already been two weeks since the first ever edition of ADDITIV Polymers World took place. As with other ADDITIV iterations, the half-day virtual event was dedicated to bringing together those working in both the 3D printing and polymers worlds. It was put on with the help of partners and sponsors, ProdwaysINTAMSYSStratasys, SPE, SPE Additive Manufacturing, IAM3DHUB, ASTM International, AMGTA, Wevolver, ASME, Women in 3D Printing and 3DPrint.com who, like us, saw that bringing the two sectors together would be a winning combination.

Over the course of four and a half hours, attendees were able to gain access to workshop and panel discussions centering on different topics in polymer 3D printing. The topics discussed as well included panel discussions on consumer goods, high-performance polymers vs. composites and sustainability. In the workshops, presentations on standardization in vat polymerization, getting the best out of engineering materials and post-processing for plastic parts made using additive manufacturing allowed users to expand their knowledge on important but sometimes overlooked parts of the 3D printing value chain.

ADDITIV Polymers World Statistics

In the end, the panels and workshops were a highlight with attendees with over half of attendees giving the experience five out of five stars. Though many pointed as well to networking and the ability to mingle with key players in polymers and 3D printing as a significant factor. Overall, in any case, satisfaction was high with over 78% noting they would be interested in attending a future ADDITIV event. Over 80% as well mentioned that they had no issues with audio or visual quality, allowing them to fully take advantage of the day.

Networking at tables dedicated to important themes in the field was also a key component of the event. This was done at both large and smaller tables for more intimate discussions. With different themes spiking the interest of the more than 800 registrants from many different disciplines including consumer goods, manufacturing, medical, design, automotive and 3D printing. Attendees as well came from a variety of backgrounds such as engineers, scientists, c-level executives and directors of additive manufacturing, R&D and innovation, among others.

Of course, if you happened to miss ADDITIV Polymers World, not to worry. All the workshops and panel discussions with the 15 speakers from the ORNL, Alpine Racing Formula 1, L’Oréal, Ford, AMGTA, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Loughborough University, Prodways, INTAMSYS and many more were recorded. It is still possible to access all the videos on our channel HERE. Be sure to take the opportunity to follow along with the incredible discussions and presentations.
