Sunday is finally here! And for us here at 3Dnatives, that means it is once again time to share with you the most exciting 3D printing videos from the week. This time, start off with our very own Elliot Saldukaite as he visits Prague to see the new machine as well as the headquarters and print farm of Prusa. Next, learn more about Ireland’s 3D printed homes. Then, be sure to check out the 3D printed carbon fiber cello from Forte3D as well as VR spectacle frames printed using metal AM by HBD. Finally, wrap it up with some updates from Siemens about their generative design software. Happy watching!
Top 1: 3Dnatives Visits Prusa in Prague
At this point, who has not heard of Prusa? The beloved Czech company is a mainstay in the world of desktop 3D printing, but did you know they have also unveiled their first professional solution? To learn more about it, Elliot went to Prusa in Prague to see the headquarters and 3D print farm in person. Check out the company in this behind the scenes exclusive and also learn more about the new Prusa Pro HT90 in the video below!
Top 2: Ireland Shows its First 3D Printed Homes
3D printed homes are quickly becoming a worldwide phenomenon and now we can add Ireland to the list of countries that have them! In the video below, watch as Ireland’s first 3D printed homes are built and see the technology in action in Dundalk. The houses will be social housing units and were made using a concrete 3D printer over the course of two weeks by HTL. The expectation is that the houses will be built three times faster than those made traditionally, with the keys being handed over to Louth County Council in October 2024.
Top 3: A 3D Printed Cello From Forte3D
Guitars, saxophones, maracas, flutes and much, much more, there seems to be no end to the 3D printed musical instruments that we see. Now we have yet another to add to the list. In this video, learn more about Forte3D and its 3D printed, carbon fiber cellos directly from Alfred Goodrich, the founder and CEO. The goal of the company is to produce affordable and accessible cellos. Learn more about them in the video below, including why it was important to turn to 3DXTECH’s carbon fiber filament for the instruments.
Top 4: HBD Shows its VR Spectacle Frames
Chinese metal 3D printer manufacturer HBD Additive Manufacturing is showing off its applications! In this video, viewers can see up close the VR Spectacle Frames made using the HBD400 laser-based metal AM solution. The company notes that by printing with titanium, they have been able to make frames with the best possible strength-to-weight ratio for a component while also highlighting the benefits of 3D printing in terms of design freedom and lightweight structures, especially with optimized products.
Top 5: What’s New in Siemens NX?
Last but certainly not least, Siemens has published a video showing users what they can expect in the latest updates of the NX software. Namely, the company has integrated a number of AI-enabled and generative design tools. In the video, check out features and enhancements for topology optimization, implicit modeling, lattice designing and more, including things that would be useful with 3D printing.
