Top 5 Videos: RAPID + TCT Interviews and Announcements

Published on June 30, 2024 by Isaac B.

Welcome to our compilation of this week’s most compelling 3D printing highlights. This week, we’re excited to bring you an edition focused more on RAPID + TCT 2024, sprinkling in several select moments and highlights from the event. We begin with our very own video, featuring an interview with Caracol’s Violetta Nespolo, Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at the company. Next up, ICON illustrates how they have revolutionized construction with their latest 3D printed house using a massive robotic arm named Phoenix. Moving forward, we present another interview from the 3Dnatives team, focused on 3D Systems’ Brand New PSLA 270 Resin 3D Printer. Next, Dr. Jonathan Morris from the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Beth Ripley from the Veterans Health Administration discuss the transformative impact of 3D printing in medicine on the Mayo Clinic’s “The Tomorrow Podcast.” And finally, we wrap up this week’s top 5 with another interview conducted by the 3Dnatives team at RAPID + TCT. This time, we feature Dennis Barnum from Dyndrite, who discussed their innovative software solutions aimed at accelerating additive manufacturing workflows and optimizing production processes.

Top 1: Caracol Breaks Boundaries in 3D Printing Scale and Shape at RAPID + TCT 2024

Violetta Nespolo, Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at Caracol met our team at RAPID + TCT 2024. Together, we explored their innovative approach to additive manufacturing. Caracol specializes in pushing the boundaries of scale and shape in 3D printing through their AM technology, offering limitless possibilities for design and production. From discussing their pioneering techniques to envisioning the future of customizable manufacturing solutions, Nespolo provided an in-depth look at how the company is redefining manufacturing.

Top 2: ICON 3D Printed Domes and Arches

Next up, ICON illustrates how they have revolutionized construction with their latest 3D printed house using a massive robotic arm named Phoenix. Unlike traditional gantry printers, Phoenix remains stationary, resembling a cobra striking to print a vast structure measuring 110 feet wide and 27 feet tall in about 400 hours. The operator oversees the process remotely, highlighting the system’s efficiency and automation. This innovative technology is set to significantly reduce construction costs, with full printed structures projected to cost $80 per square foot by 2026.

Top 3: 3D Systems’ Brand New PSLA 270 Resin 3D Printer

This week at RAPID + TCT, we discussed the PSLA 270 resin 3D printer recently unveiled by 3D Systems Corporation. Martin Johnson, VP of Product at the company, highlighted its blend of SLA and DLP technologies, promising unmatched speed and precision for industrial applications. Take a look at the exclusive interview below!

Top 4: How 3D Printed Models Help Surgeons

Moving forward, we feature a video from the “Tomorrow’s Cure” podcast, as Dr. Jonathan Morris from the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Beth Ripley from the Veterans Health Administration discuss the transformative impact of 3D printing in medicine. They explain, in detail, how this technology enables the creation of precise, patient-specific models, such as a life-sized kidney with a tumor, which aids surgeons in planning and executing complex procedures. The tactile, three-dimensional models provide a more intuitive understanding for both doctors and patients compared to traditional imaging.

Top 5: Dyndrite Unveils Next-Gen Software Solutions

We wrap up this week’s top 5 with another interview conducted by the 3Dnatives team at RAPID + TCT. This time, we feature Dennis Barnum from Dyndrite, who discussed their innovative software solutions aimed at accelerating additive manufacturing workflows and optimizing production processes. Barnum, head of demand generation at Dyndrite, shared his journey into 3D printing, emphasizing the time-saving benefits and accelerated innovation enabled by additive manufacturing. Highlighting the significance of events like RAPID + TCT, Barnum explains how they provide crucial opportunities to engage with the 3D printing community, understand customer needs, and stay competitive.
