It’s Sunday! Which means that it is once again time to highlight the top 5 3D printing videos of the week. Start off with 3Dnatives first 3D Interview which was with ATHOS, a Spanish company that is making fully customized climbing shoes that are shaped to your feet. Next, take a look at ICON’s latest 3D printed home which was designed with sustainability and DfAM in mind, House Zero. After that, make sure to check out BCN3D’s video explaining their new technology, VLM, which though it shares many similaires with SLA and DLP process actually is an entirely new 3D printing process. Then, take a closer look a Materialise Magics, a data preparation software that will allow you to prepare all your files for 3D printing and additive manufacturing before you even start printing. Finally, finish off with a video on Freeform Injection Molding, a process combining printing and injection molding for incredible versatility, scalability and agility. Happy Sunday and happy watching!

Top 1: Talking to ATHOS About Their Customizable 3D Printed Climbing Shoes

We have previously told you about ATHOS, the Spanish company that is using additive manufacturing to create climbing shoes that are perfectly fit to your feet. For our very first 3D Interview, we sat down with the co-founders Emili Taxés and Romina Milesi to find out more about how they are made and why they are becoming game changers in the field of rock climbing for many athletes. Check out the full interview in the video below!

Top 2: ICON Unveils its Latest 3D Printed Home, House Zero

ICON has unveiled its latest 3D printed home! Called House Zero, the innovative 3D printing construction company noted that they hope it would be the first in a line of houses specifically designed to use the opportunities created by 3D printing. Located in East Austin,  the house was 3D printed by ICON’s next-gen Vulcan construction system and designed by Lake|Flato, who are known for their sustainable designs. You can see how it was made as well as see the house itself in ICON’s video below.

Top 3: BCN3D’s New Viscuous Manufacturing (VLM) Technology

BCN3D, already well-known in the world of FDM printers, has decided now to also move into resin 3D printing. This week, they announced the launch of their new 3D printing process, Viscous Lithography Manufacturing (VLM), a patented lithography-based  process utilizing high viscosity resins to produce high-performance parts extremely quickly and in an affordable and scalable way. In the below video, they explain how the innovative, new technology works.

Top 4: Materialise Magics Helps Prepare Your Files and Data for 3D Printing

Everyone knows that 3D software can play a critical role during the printing process. But what about in the stages before you click that button? Check out this video on Materialise Magics from the Computer Aider Technology platform. They walk you through what they claim to be the most powerful data preparation software, showing how it can be used for data preparation and as an STL editor software. You will hear from Gert Claes, a Product Manager for Materialise Magics as he explains how it can be used at every step of the Additive Manufacturing workflow and how they have integrated customer feedback to make a smart and versatile platform.

Top 5: Freeform Injection Molding through 3D Printing with Addifab

The final top 5 video of the week is brought to you by addifab. Though often injection molding and 3D printing are spoken about as competing technologies, increasingly we have seen opportunities arising from integrating both of them into one process. That is the idea behind Freeform Injection Molding. Based on the slogan “Print. Inject. Dissolve,” the process involves 3D printing molds for injection molding before dissolving it to get the final part. See how it works in the video:
