We have come to the end of another week! Now that September is starting to ramp up, the additive manufacturing industry is also waking up after the summer vacation with new stories coming out every day, including videos. So let’s take a look at some of the best that we’ve seen! Starting off, see how Ottobock used 3D printing to help athletes at the Paralympics before checking out a guide on a new software, Cognitive Design. Next, Ohio’s 3D printed house is hoped to be a solution to the state’s housing crisis while Krones is turning to additive manufacturing for its production. Last but not least, ELEGOO has released a benchy test of its new flagship CoreXY printer, the Centuari Carbon. Happy watching and let us know which is your favorite!

Top 1: Ottobock Explains the Use of 3D Printing at the Paralympics

The Paralympics may be over, but the achievements of these incredible athletes will last forever. And we are proud to say that 3D printing had a significant role to play as the Paralympians reached for gold. Check out our latest 3D Interviews where we go behind the scenes with Ottobock at the Paralympics Repair Center where 3D printing is just one of the technologies used to help repair prostheses, orthoses and wheelchairs. We spoke with AM expert Leon Fiolka about the types of 3D processes used, the cases they had already seen and more!

Top 2: Get Started With Cognitive Design

Last week we told you about Cognitive Design, the new software from Cognitive Design Systems. There we were able to tell you about all the benefits of using Cognitive Design for additive manufacturing as it helps to optimize the entire design process, from start to finish, optimizing even the most complex geometries for 3D printing. Now in the video below you can get started with mastering the software!

Top 3: The First 3D Printed House in Ohio

3D printed houses occupy a gray area where they are both no longer novel but not exactly widespread. For that reason, they are still celebrated, especially when they are done for the first time in a new region. In this case, take a closer look at the first 3D printed home in Ohio Made by Sustainable Concrete Innovations, the interview shows how 3D printed houses could be used to help solve the housing crisis in the state and by making them more affordable ultimately moving the savings back to the buyer.

Top 4: Krones Turns to Additive Manufacturing With UltiMaker

Have you heard of Krones? The leading manufacturer of complete systems for breweries, beverage bottlers and food producers iw well-known for its packaging, with clients such as Coca-Cola and Heineken. And the company is using 3D printing! Learn how in this video from UltiMaker showing how additive manufacturing is helping the company with the millions of glass bottles, cans and PET containers being produced every day.

Top 5: A Benchy Test for the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 3D Printer

Benchy tests (short for benchmark) are the cornerstone of seeing what a 3D printer is capable of doing. In this following video, ELEGGO tests its Centauri Carbon 3D printer in white PLA in a speed benchy test. Since its debut at RAPID + TCT 2024, ELEGOO has put forth the machine as its CoreXY flagship solution with the aim to “to truly simplify 3D printing for beginners, eliminating the steep learning curve and high costs that have traditionally been barriers. This marks a potential turning point that could extend 3D printing beyond hobbyists into everyday tech, benefiting people’s lives.” Check out how it does in the video below!
