Top 5 Videos: Custom 3D-Printed Bicycle Seats From DQBD & Stratasys
In this weekly video compilation, we will see how DQBD has implemented Stratasys 3D printing technology to create more comfortable, 3D-printed bicycle seats that are adapted to athletes. We will also be able to see the new test carried out in the 3Dnatives Lab, this time testing the BCN3D Sigma D25 3D printer. We’ll learn about the advantages and disadvantages of the 3D-printed Fibonacci house later, before moving on to a video that asks the question: will additive manufacturing replace CNC machining? Finally, we head over to Dubai where Prusa has the “Future of Manufacturing” on display with its automated print farm system World Expo. Happy Sunday—enjoy watching!
Top 1: 3D-Printed Bicycle Seats
In this first video, we will see how the award-winning German design company DQBD GmbH has used the H350 ™ 3D printer from the manufacturer Stratasys. The idea of the project was to produce fully customized bicycle saddles thanks to 3D technology, specifically the patented SAF method. These saddles offer a higher level of comfort and performance efficiency compared to more standard versions. Additionally, DQBD claims that additive manufacturing has enabled it to save costs and reduce lead times from months to just several days compared to traditional molding methods.
Top 2: Sigma D25 3D Printer Test
The 3Dnatives Lab has done it again. This time we have put the Sigma D25 3D printer, developed by the Spanish manufacturer BCN3D, to the test. After hundreds of hours of printing, our colleague Elliot answered questions like, what is the process of installing the machine? What kind of software should be used? What is the final quality of the 3D printed parts? Don’t miss the video below to see the final grade we gave the machine. You can also read the full test at this link.
Top 3: The Pros & Cons of the Fibonacci House
Have you heard of the Fibonacci House? This structure located in Canada, has been 3D printed and converted into an Airbnb. It is a very innovative project in the construction sector, as we see more and more potential of 3D printing in this field. However, what are the pros and cons of this type of house? To know the positive and negative points, do not miss this video where a woman visited the house inside and offered her most sincere point of view.
Top 4: Will 3D Printing Replace CNC Machining?
This is a question that often comes up in the manufacturing industry. The exponential growth of additive manufacturing is changing the paradigm of this sector, which for now is used as a complementary production method. In addition, we are increasingly seeing its application in a wide variety of industries, from medical to aerospace to consumer goods. To answer this question and learn more about the future of 3D printing in manufacturing, don’t miss this video.
Top 5: Automated Farm System at World EXPO 2020 in Dubai
At the Dubai World Expo, several applications and machines dedicated to 3D printing are on display, such as the replica of the David. Among them, we find the Automated Farm System from the manufacturer Prusa. Composed of 34 Original Prusa CoreXY 3D printers and controlled by the Prusa Connect software, it is, according to the company, the future of manufacturing.
