This week’s Top 5 Videos contain a variety of videos, from well-known brands like Makerbot and Prusa, to innovative new projects such as the OWA Speaker. Remember, a new Top 5 Videos is posted every week, so tune in next Sunday for next week’s episode!

1 – Makerbot & KUKA

Makerbot are a well-established name in the desktop 3D printing industry, and this video shows how they teamed up with KUKA to prototype parts for their machine arms. The ability to test one-off designs so quickly means that design changes can be made quickly and easily based on performance, allowing for better iterations to be made.

2 – OWA Speaker

The OWA Speaker is a 3D printed speaker made in a collaboration between several French companies. The speaker combines stunning design with high-quality music, a built-in light, and an alarm clock which you can connect your phone with. The OWA Speaker is currently on Kickstarter for preorder for €149 here. You can also view our full story about the speaker here.

3 – 3D Printed Parts Embedded with Electronics

Nano Dimension are a 3D printing company who are involved in the 3D printed electronics industry. This video shows how, using 3D printed parts, electronics can be embedded with them to create fully functional electronics without having to purchase the parts fully-made.

4 – Sandvik Metal Powders

Sandvik are one of those companies that you don’t know by name, but are involved in many products that you use on a day-to-day basis. With the rise of 3D printing, Sandvik are focusing on creating metal powders for metal additive manufacturing. This will help advance metal 3D printing to compete with other manufacturing methods.

5 – Prusa 3D printing farm

The undisputed king of RepRap 3D printers are the Prusa 3D printers, created by Josef Prusa. These machines are reliable, accurate, and can print more versions of themselves – as Prusa shows here! This video shows the expansion of the 3D printer farm up to the current level of 300 Prusa printers, printing yet more copies of themselves.
