Liftoff of the First 3D Printed Rocket
In this first video, Relativity Space prepares for the third test launch of its Terran 1 rocket, nicknamed “GLHF” (Good Luck, Have Fun) in Florida. The Terran 1 rocket is the largest 3D printed object to attempt space flight. The two-stage rocket features nine 3D-printed Aeon engines on its first stage. All Relativity engines are also entirely 3D printed. The video begins just 28 minutes from lift-off and concludes with the rocket’s dramatic ascent into the sky. Pinocchio – Animation Merges with 3D Printing
Are you passionate about cinema? If you haven’t yet had the chance to see the latest Pinocchio film directed by Guillermo del Toro, let us give you an excellent reason to do so! The magic of this stop-motion animated film was made possible by the use of 3D printing technologies to create the character of Pinocchio himself. In this video, go behind the scenes with Georgina Hayns, “Pinocchio” puppet manufacturing supervisor, and Brian Leif Hansen, animation supervisor.
Are 3D Printers the Future of Construction?
This video shows the construction of Europe’s largest building using 3D printing technology, marking a breakthrough in the construction industry. The machine used performs work equivalent to that of several workers, laying concrete in layers to erect four square meters of wall every hour. This project demonstrates the capabilities of 3D construction. In this video, site manager Chikaeze Ugwu shares his satisfaction with the progress made. He outlines the many advantages of 3D printing in the construction sector. For example, the process is three times faster than conventional methods, while requiring less materials and labor, contributing to a more environmentally friendly approach.
Behind the Scenes at the BMW Factory with ExOne
Now we’re off to a different, automotive-focused topic. Today, we explore ExOne’s Binder Jetting 3D printing technology, used by BMW to ensure environmentally-friendly production. This video takes you inside the Landshut plant, BMW’s largest for conventional components, where over 3 million parts are produced every year. This facility focuses on creating intelligently designed parts to improve performance and energy efficiency. For over 20 years, ExOne has been a key partner in digital manufacturing for BMW, helping to establish a new production method for intelligent components. In this video, we follow Eric Bader, Managing Director of ExOne, to find out how ExOne’s Binder Jetting 3D printing technology plays a crucial role at BMW. Find the answers below!
3D Printed Organs: A Solution to the Global Shortage?
Let’s take a closer look at the subject of bioprinting. In today’s world, the shortage of organs for transplantation is a worrying reality, resulting in the loss of 17 lives every day. But this video shows us a glimmer of hope that comes from 3D printing, thanks to a method developed by engineers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). They use a specialized polymer-based ink to 3D print artificial hearts, precisely reproducing the patient’s cardiac appearance and function. This discovery therefore has the potential to transform organ transplantation practices and personalize medicine. But how do they do it? This video explains the process of reproducing a heart using 3D printing.
Steakhouse Serves Up 3D Printed Vegan Meat
Meat-lovers who have chosen to be vegetarian to protect the environment can now enjoy steak at El Santuari steakhouse near Barcelona, thanks to 3D printing! This restaurant, ranked among the best in the world for its steaks, was originally renowned for its exotic meats such as wagyu, zebra and crocodile. In collaboration, bioengineer Giuseppe Scionti, committed to preserving the planet, and Josep Sanitjas have developed a 3D-printed vegan steak. This steak, produced with 3D printing, is designed to offer the same taste as the restaurant’s traditional steaks, and it almost perfectly resembles a conventional steak in terms of texture: crispy, juicy, and offering a sensory experience similar to that of authentic meat! This innovation marks a step towards a more sustainable, plant-based future for the food industry.
Fashion Company Adopts 3D Printing to Create Sustainable Clothing
Today, fast fashion with its mass production and consumption, has a major environmental impact on our world, generating nearly $500 billion worth of discarded clothing every year. As the world’s third largest contributor to pollution, the fashion industry accounts for 10% of global CO2 emissions. To counter this, some initiatives, like that of Garrett Gerson, founder of Variant 3D, are turning to 3D printing. His company allows consumers to design garments via software, then send them to local 3D printers. This approach aims to make clothing production more sustainable, with no waste, using sustainable fibers and local production, and even creating bespoke garments.
3D Printing Redefines Automotive Performance in Formula 1
Additive manufacturing is also used in Formula 1, where it has to meet the high demands of top-level sport. Jabil and the Alpine F1 Team are joining forces to innovate with 3D printing. This technology makes it possible to create specialized parts using cutting-edge materials, meeting the rigorous standards of motor racing. By exploiting 3D printing, they accelerate prototype design, facilitate vehicle development, and optimize the production of automotive parts. This approach offers the team a crucial competitive advantage in the demanding environment of Formula 1 racing. The associated video reveals what goes on behind the scenes of this collaboration and its impact on the future of the motorsport.
