The growth of the Shapeways 3D printing service has accelerated since its inception; After several successful fundraisers, the US has announced a range of new services including the production of personalized jewelry designs. Called Spring & Wonder, the jewelry range is available in several precious metals and colors.

Thanks to additive manufacturing’s ability to offer more geometric complexities and customization to designs, it has gradually been enticing more and more designers to integrate it into their own creations. SmarTech has even estimated the 3D printing market and jewelry industry to be worth $900 million by 2026. With results like this, Shapeways saw an opportunity to launch a collection of 3D printed jewelry, with three different Signature ranges called Celestial and Geometric. Each range offers customization options such as the ability to choose from silver, gold, copper, bronze and rose gold.

The Celestial range presents a series of pieces based on symbolic forms such as stars, moons and planets. On each piece, you have the option of writing your initials. The Geometric collection also offers customization options but in the forms itself, you can opt for squares, circles, triangles, etc. Finally, the Signature range consists of a necklace, earrings and a signet ring that are entirely tailor-made – the jewelry is based on letters chosen by the client.

Thanks to an online platform, people will be able to choose their tailor-made jewelry directly. Shapeways CEO Greg Kress explains, “Shapeways has developed a sophisticated back-end of production, distribution, and supply chain fulfillment network, so we’re eager to expand our software services to brands looking to take advantage of mass personalisation via 3D modeling and printing technology. With this simple software extension, we’re offering brands the opportunity to empower their customers to create truly one-of-a-kind products at affordable prices.”
