Infographic: 3D Printing to Protect the Oceans

Additive manufacturing is establishing itself as a valuable technology in many sectors. In the past, we’ve explored its impact in fields such as jewelry, the marine industry, art, sport and even the Olympics, through various infographics. Today, we turn our attention to 3D printing’s role in helping to protect the oceans. For example, currently, there are many initiatives to recycle plastic from the oceans, from waste to discarded fishing nets, by transforming it into filaments for 3D printing. This technology is also being used to preserve and restore coral reefs. But that’s not all: it is also being used to design sea walls to protect cities from rising waters.
This infographic highlights the major impact of 3D printing has had in protecting the oceans through a selection of innovative projects. Did you know that Revo Food has developed plant-based fish fillets to limit the effects of intensive fishing? Or that 3D printing can be used to create and install artificial reefs to restore marine habitats? Discover these and other initiatives below.
