Dior is Determining the Right Skincare for its Customers Using AM

Published on September 2, 2022 by Madeleine P.

It is never easy to find the right product for the best skincare, especially considering the wide range of different products with different ingredients and active ingredients on the market. Suitable skincare has also long since ceased to be a purely female matter, with men’s skincare growing at roughly 8% a year in the US. But what is the right skincare product? In order help develop the perfect product for each person, EveLab Insight, a technology company based in Hong Kong and working in the beauty industry, has found a way to combine good skincare with additive manufacturing and artificial intelligence.

Large advertising campaigns of skincare products often promise the impossible, such as instantly healthier and younger skin. The reality is different. EveLab Insight’s latest technology, the Eve V, brings a method to the beauty market that includes a skin analysis device that creates a 3D panorama of the skin. This procedure is combined with artificial intelligence. Thanks to 3D scans, it is possible to immerse oneself in several skin layers within just a few seconds, thus presenting a comprehensive, detailed and individualized skin report. Although there are already a number devices used for skin analysis, according to the manufacturer of the Eve V, with this method it is possible to make more precise measurements and quantifications with regard to skin sags, eye bags as well as cheek and jaw wrinkles. Jean Krutmann, a dermatologist and environmental physician, commented, “The newly developed Eve V technology has the potential to be a game changer in dermatology when it comes to assessing facial skin using cutting-edge AI-based technologies. We are very much looking forward to using Eve V in our future research projects.”

The Eve V is Already in Use for Skin Analysis

Dior, LVMH, EFFECTIM and even Shanghai Dermatology Hospital are all examples of companies already using EveLab Insight technology. For example, Dior has already gained an advantage on AI skin analysis technology in the French capital of Paris. Coupled with the luxury house’s existing expertise in dermatology and neuroscience, it is thus able to much better determine small skin imperfections and analyze their causes. The customer then receives a product recommendation that is perfectly tailored to his or her needs.

Christian Dior’s famously stated that “My dream? To make women happier and more beautiful,” in line with this, the fashion house has developed the Dior AI Skin Analyzer thanks to a strategic collaboration to offer high-quality skincare solutions for everyone. Specifically, Dior’s process is based on an analysis of six different dimensions, which include radiance, smoothness, fullness, refinement, firmness, and eye smoothness – all using 3D scanners developed in-house. After this step, the two largest skin problems are then selected and the appropriate solutions for them are presented using AI recognition.
