DeliPrint Combines 3D Printing and Baking in Argentina

More and more often we find 3D printing in very different fields. The advantages brought by this technology have been exploited in a wide variety of projects that require freedom of design and fast manufacturing. Latin America has not been the exception, as for some years now, small and medium-sized companies have emerged that have opted for 3D printing as their main production method. Today we will learn about a new application of 3D printing in the food industry, precisely 3D printing in baking. We recently had the opportunity to interview the founder and creator of DeliPrint, Paula, who told us more about the company. She and her team use 3D printing in pastry to manufacture cutters and stencils. Her unique and customizable designs meet the creative demands of pastry chefs.
3DN: Could you introduce yourself and explain your connection to additive manufacturing?
My name is Paula, I’m 31 years old and I’m from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I first encountered 3D printing in 2017 when I was working as a pastry chef. In my country, I couldn’t find many cutters and tools for decoration available, and I found on the internet that they could be manufactured with 3D printing. So I decided to buy a printer to make my own cutters for the themes I would need.
At that time I was pregnant and I thought it might be a good idea to start making the cutters to sell them, since I could do it from home and continue working without problems. I had many difficulties when starting to use the 3D printer, I did not know that there were so many variables and parameters to configure. I had technical problems that, thanks to the internet, I was able to solve. Everything was trial and error.
At first the pieces were weak or the details with imperfections that did not convince me, until testing and testing, I achieved the result I wanted. I remember that a friend who had knowledge of CAD programs helped me to make my first custom cutter, a figure with a name, very simple but incredible for me at that time.
3DN: How did DeliPrint come about?
When I learned 3D design, I decided to start my business to offer innovative and quality tools. Very quickly I started to do very well, the networks began to grow with followers, new customers month after month, I started to form a team because I could not cope with all the tasks involved in the business. We started to buy more 3D printers, expand our workspace.
At the beginning I did everything with 1 printer and now we have more than 80, something unthinkable for me at the beginning. Today our work is divided into different sectors: administration, customer service, online store, design, production, marketing, packaging and shipping. The whole organization was put together over the years, day by day with a lot of work and challenges.
Last year we started to participate in exhibitions of the pastry industry to get closer to customers and it was a success. Customers really like to see our products at these events and also have the opportunity to try them and see demonstrations on the spot learning new techniques.
3DN: How do you use 3D printing and what benefits does it bring to this business?
We use 3D printing to manufacture tools that facilitate the work of our customers, providing new products, trends and collections every month. We make collections of cutters of the themes of the moment, be it movies, cartoons, singers, special dates, etc. We are constantly expanding our catalog. Our customers are happy using our products because they can achieve professional results in a few minutes, optimizing their work with quality tools designed for them.
A few months ago we launched a new collection designed for ceramists and we expanded our audience in a few weeks. We specifically designed cutters and stamps for ceramics in cups, trays and various pieces, this is just an example of the various possibilities we have to offer thanks to 3D printing and the ease of designing any piece and being able to manufacture it instantly. 3D printing gives us the advantage of being able to offer a catalog with more than 3500 products currently available that we are able to manufacture on demand without needing a matrix for each design.
3DN: Are there any flagship products?
Our star products are the alphabet rulers. We design in 3D some alphabets designed for pastry with a ruler applicator system that is very practical to use and is used to customize all kinds of work either in pastry, ceramics and all kinds of crafts. Many orders choose these alphabets for their versatility and practicality. Our customers use them constantly and they are their workhorse when it comes to decorating.
3DN: What projects can we expect in the future from DeliPrint?
In 2024, we started shipping worldwide. In under a month we had already sent orders to 8 countries and we expect to reach many more in a short time. We receive daily letters from many countries inquiring about our products and we are more than happy to be able to send our products to customers all over the world. We would love to keep growing and expand our work space again to be able to add more machines and provide more work in our country as well.
We are committed to continue improving the quality and designs. Soon we will be giving a talk at a national university on 3D printing entrepreneurship, to which we were summoned because they had met us on social networks and saw our trajectory from the beginning. For us it is very gratifying and we never cease to be amazed by the reach we have achieved with the brand.
