We found the TOP 5 VIDEOS of the week about 3D printing and the way additive manufacturing is shaping and changing our society. If you enjoy these, you can view even more 3D printing videos on our Youtube channel.  Hope you’ll enjoy and have a great Sunday!

Top 1: London Bronze Casting Company and additive manufacturing

Voxeljet brought their 3D printing expertise to ‘The Green Man’ project  – a project to commemorate the foundry that formerly operated in Deptford, London where he now stands. The form and shape of the statue is based on a foundry worker, ‘Bill’. Voxeljet partnered with the  London Bronze Casting Company for this project. The form itself was printed on a voxeljet VX1000 PPB printer and then processed at London Bronze Casting, a foundry focused on research, innovation and craft to produce the final statue standing 2.2m tall and weighing 200kg. Find out more below!

Top 2: How 3D printing will disrupt the supply chain?

In the following video, Nora Toure highlights 3D Printing solutions for a more distributed and optimised supply chain. Nora Toure is an additive manufacturing expert since 2010, distinguished by her peers and awarded several times for her work in the 3D printing industry. Nora also founded Women in 3D Printing in 2014 to promote women leaders in the Additive Manufacturing industry. 3D printing is a very disruptive technology as it shakes our conventional methods and way of producing things. Find out in more detail how the technology will change the supply chain below!

Top 3: 3D printing at the heart of University project

Joe Kastner is a student at the University of Minnesota Duluth, studying for a master’s degree in industrial engineering. As part of his studies, he has access to different FDM printers on which he can print different prototypes to test larger scale projects. The technology allows him, in 8 to 9 hours to obtain a functional prototype to see what may or may not work in his project. He also made a thumb prosthesis for a carpenter who, following a work accident, cut it off.

Top 4: Additive manufacturing for the aerospace industry

Aerojet Rocketdyne has invested in metal additive manufacturing solutions, including a 3D M2 Cusing printer from Concept Laser. Thanks to this machine, the company is able to create aerospace components much faster and at the same time reduce costs. These are components that resist extreme temperatures, whether in very cold environments such as space or in extremely hot situations such as rocket takeoff:

Top 5: Decathlon and 3D Printing

In this the following video, Luis Rodriguez from Pro talks sits down with Kevin Penvern, Prototype Engineer at Decathlon, to discuss the company’s experience with desktop 3D printing. Discover how bringing the prototyping process in-house allowed the engineers at Decathlon to take full control of their workflow, and how they continue to explore the field of additive manufacturing for new opportunities to make sport available for their customers!
