Axtra3D On Being at the Forefront of Innovation at RAPID + TCT 2025

RAPID + TCT 2025 will be taking place in Detroit, Michigan this year between April 8 and 10. And as always, one of the highlights at the event for attendees will be the exhibitors who are showing the latest innovations in additive manufacturing as well as exciting applications for the technologies. But who will be there? What can you look forward to if you attend?
To answer these questions, we are sitting down with some of the exhibitors who will be attending RAPID + TCT 2025 to learn more about what they will be showcasing and what they think will be the highlight for attendees at the event this year. To start with, we spoke with Axtra3D, a startup we have previously covered, which has quickly grown thanks to its HPS technology and Lumia X1 3D printer.

3DN: Could you introduce yourself?
My name is Rajeev Kulkarni, and I am the Chief Strategy Officer at Axtra3D.
3DN: What is Axtra3D showcasing at RAPID + TCT this year?
At RAPID + TCT 2025, Axtra3D will focus on highlighting its dual business model, material partners, ecosystem, hardware products, and parts that represent all its production solutions. Here’s a refined look at what will be showcased:
Axtra3D Lumia X1: The company will highlight the Axtra3D Lumia X1’s capabilities. It will showcase the printer’s precision, material versatility and how it enhances efficiency in industries like automotive, healthcare, and industrial manufacturing. Axtra3D will also emphasize how the Lumia X1 is part of its broader material ecosystem, integrating seamlessly with material partners and delivering end-to-end production solutions.
Hi-Speed SLA: Axtra3D will showcase advancements in HPS technology, including its ability to handle both low- and high-viscosity materials. These demonstrations will focus on how HPS fits into the company’s dual business model, offering flexible, precise printing solutions.

With the Lumia X1, it’s possible to print many parts in one build
3D Printing Solutions for Mold Making: Axtra3D’s offers five types of molds. Mold making will be front and center, showing how its 3D printers help create more efficient, accurate molds for various industries.
At RAPID + TCT, we will primarily show industrial applications, including molds. With the Lumia X1 it is possible to make ceramic mold inserts, low-pressure molds, thermoforming molds, high-temperature molds and silicone molds, all with different benefits. These are one of the popular applications that we are seeing for our HPS technology.
Production applications will also be on show at our booth. For example, RAPID + TCT attendees will be able to see electrical connectors, parts for low-volume production, micro-printing, fire-retardant materials, silicone products, electroplating G textures and jig g textures. Dental solutions will also be present.
This is interesting because showing the applications and especially those in sectors like industry, medical and dental, packaging and electronics, among others, is really helping to show what additive manufacturing can do. Attendees who do not have experience with AM will be able to see how they can use and adopt it while those who are experienced can understand how to expand and better their usage.
3DN: What do you expect from the RAPID + TCT 2025? What are you the most excited about?
Year after year, we expect RAPID + TCT to be a dynamic space for collaboration, inspiration, and problem-solving. It’s a chance to engage with industry leaders, innovators, and potential customers who are as passionate about advancing additive manufacturing as we are.
We’re most excited to demonstrate how our Lumia X1 3D printer and Hi-Speed SLA technology are setting new benchmarks in the industry. Seeing attendees’ reactions to our ability to deliver exceptional precision, high throughput, and unmatched surface quality—all in a single solution—makes these events truly special. Additionally, we look forward to meaningful conversations about how our technology can solve real-world challenges across diverse industries.

3DN: What is a common misconception, either about your products or AM in general?
A common belief in the 3D printing industry is that you can’t achieve all five key performance metrics, speed, surface finish, feature resolution, part accuracy and large part size, in a single solution. Traditionally, in conventional SLA and conventional DLP, users have had to compromise, prioritizing one at the expense of the others.
At Axtra3D, we’ve shattered this paradigm by converging three innovations into Hi-Speed SLA. They are Hybrid PhotoSynthesis (HPS), TryLayer Adaption and TruLayer Separation. By merging the strengths of SLA and DLP processes, HPS eliminates the trade-offs:
- Unmatched Speed: With fast curing times and high throughput, our printers deliver exceptional performance without compromising quality.
- Superior Surface Finish: The precision of SLA combined with the efficiency of DLP ensures parts are smooth and free of layer lines, right out of the printer.
- High Part Accuracy: Our technology achieves precise tolerances and repeatable results, even for complex geometries and fine details, making it ideal for demanding applications like micro-printing and dental models.
- Feature Resolution: Precise resolution achieved by the laser.
- Large Part Size: Not limited to lattice structures or small cross sections like other DLP, LCD systems.
3DN: What would you tell attendees to invite them to RAPID + TCT and to stop by Axtra3D’s booth?
